 Black thread is has the most intense dying process of any thread.  You
 would be better to buy a good quality black embroidery thread not a
 thicker one which would probably just cause needle breakage. Have you
 tried to adjust the tension as it comes to the outline?  Adding an
 extra sabilizer has worked for me on occasion when using the cheaper
 Gutterman or Maderia threads. Sulky is about the worst there is out
 there.  I agree with the previous poster, Ackerman threads are great.
 Black has always been a problem to sew with, even on the commercial
 machines.  You could also try
 really dark charcoal if its for the ourline, might just do the trick
 as its not as heavy a dye process.
