Once the application is open, it shouldn't take much time to open a
new design. I find that it's only the initial load that's slow for
most embroidery software. Opening a design is usually almost
instantaneous.

of most image viewers.

Advantages
It's fast/
Has drag and drop for 'next' image
Image can be resized
Has limited conversion capability to/from .dst and .pcs as well as .pes
Disadvantages
No view of all in a folder
No 'next button'. You have to either open a new file or drag one
He has some very useful other utilities there as well. Some may be a
bit long in the tooth.

Advantages - It's fast.
Drawbacks - it isn't a general viewer - you can only open one file at
a time, it doesn't have a 'next' functionk, and worse, you can't just
drag and drop the next one, but have to go File / Open for each
design. You can't resize the displayed image. But it DOES exist.
I use Iconizer (installs with Embird - even the trial editions) which
displays adequate thumbnails in a folder/directory listing. For a more
detailed view, I use the free Wilcom Truesizer.

Truesize accepts most embroidery formats, and does conversions and
resizing as well. It's slower to open initially, but you can drag one
design after another into it very easily. It's displayed images are
FAR superior to those in the viewers mentioned above.
The only problem using Truesizer as a viewer is that it's not really a
viewer, but another embroidery application. It's slow to open (but
faster than any Viking, Brother, or Artista product; Unlike a REAL
viewer, you can't just say 'next', but have to drag the next one in
manually, and go through the extra click when it tells you that "this
design may have resizing limitations".
