You could run it through such programmes as Virtual Dub Mod or TMPGenc and
use the filters to sharpen, change colours and a variety of other things.
It takes time, and probably a very long time as it may be best to only use
one filter at a time. The downside is that you will end up with a very big
file - multiple gigabytes. This is not digital remastering but you may get
some slight improvement. Is it worth the time and effort especially as
filters applied to one portion of the film to make improvements may produce
worse effects at other points. It may be necessary to chop the film into
parts and apply filters or different settings to each, then rejoin the
file.
