Thanks for the suggestion, Spike, and for your encouraging words :-)
The idea of PARs on request is good for people who are downloading
within a few days of posts going up, but after a few weeks, it becomes
a liability. I don't know who your usenet provider is, but mine both
have posts available back to August 2008, and I can imagine that what
is posted today will still be there for any new visitor to see [and
perhaps want to download] in another 5 - 6 years time. I can't forsee
myself keeping .rar files that long to make PAR2 files if needed...
So, I'll just post the standard 5 - 10% recovery files.
And while I have mentioned recovery files, I've had a bit of a think
about how to make the recovery files more efficient, and I have a few
ideas. Assuming that someone makes a request for a specific file,
I'll post it using my ideas on recovery file options.
If anyone wants to know about/talk about these options, I'll do that
separately.
