3D - Please read first..txt
About 25 years or so ago BBC TV's 'Tomorrows World' had a week of broadcasting, for a few minutes each day, a fun mix of programmes using an effect which resulted in a 3D picture when watched through special glasses. Unlike the old red and green glasses of the fifties these had a clear left lens and a fairly dark grey right one. If you can cobble something together to do the job - it's only your right eye you really need to sort out - then you can try it for yourself. The whole effect depends on having the picture moving from left to right, with your left eye seeing it in real time, but your right eye getting the information slightly delayed by the dark lens it's looking through. The brain matches the two images together and produces the 3D effect.
I was impressed with this and wondered if I could get similar results on my home camcorder. While on holiday in Menorca I got my wife to video the scenery by holding the camera at right angles to the car as we drove along to give me my 'left to right' movement. You can judge the result for yourself.
