Jus a couple of ideas--
- Space is still an issue for many people. It's cheap but it still
isn't really cheap, and a lot of people already own smaller flash
drives (and phones) that are otherwise perfectly serviceable.
- If people burn their own CDs (and I assume some still do), don't most
of the advantages of the flac format disappear?
- Maybe a lot of players (in cars, etc.) don't play flac files?
- Many speakers and headphones aren't good enough to properly reproduce
flac files. I play most of my audio these days on my iMac using VLC and
I'm not sure the difference is appreciable -- or at least enough to
matter.
- There are times for casual listening, and there are times for serious
listening. When you're playing music through phones while you're out
and about, or working out, you shouldn't be paying that much attention
to the music anyway.
That said, I would recommend flac to anyone who can and wants to use it.
