In season 7 (the best season in my opinion) there is one episode called
"Signs and Wonders." The episode features a Word of Faith fundamentalist
pastor, and another (Evangelical Free? or Methodist pastor). I could not
tell exactly what denomination that pastor belonged too, so anyone who has
seen this episode, please comment.
Pastor Steve Winter is a fundamentalist, but not a Word of Faith
Fundamentalist as the pastor in the episode, but a Apostolic Holiness
(OneNess Pentecostal) fundamentalist.
But I believe the demeanor of that pastor in this episode was very similar
to Winters, except he was much meaner. For example in one scene the pastor
grabs a FBI agents hand and holds her hand in a snake cage. Thankfully she
was not bitten by the venomous rattle snake.
The one pastor in the episode I believe was saved, but like many in the Word
of Faith movement, was in deep deception.
I only post this because I know that many of you have questioned Steve's
ordination. But may I challenge you to do some research on the web, or with
your telephone. Not all churches ordain their pastors, and if you take a
look into the bible belt (where this episode is based) you will find pastors
like the Word of Faith Fundamentalist in this episode, and a number of
Pastors like Steve Winter.
Steve Winter (as heretical as he is) is a pastor, and is not unlike a number
of pastors in the bible belt.
Some of you may respond and say something like "Its only a TV show." Yes
you are correct, but if you would do a bit of research (not all of these
small fundy churches are on the web) on the Word of Fait movement, you would
see that Signs and Wonders churches do exist as well as pastors like the one
featured in that episode.
