I don't think so.

This group has been used for posting some teen movies, but was most
notably the home group of the BL movie poster Helpmomger.
Oh yes, it was occasionally use for a little counseling.  :-)

Well, pretty much ALL newsgroups are.

Yep, and the fit throwing is being continued right here, isn't it?
Please take a step back and have a good look at what you posted.
Emotions running a little high?

True, in general. But then, this groups isn't used nearly as much as
the real public groups, right?

Could be worse. Could be Trolls posting with encryption.  :-)

But you DO have some personal feelings for this group? So do I.  :-)

Well... how do we know he even knew this group had ever been use before?
And do we know he knew he would offend anyone with his posts? In truth,
most posters rarely consider the possible consequences of their
actions, and don't really intend to cause the trouble they sometimes
do.
Perhaps you might remember some of that yourself.  :-)

How does one know which groups no one visits? Even a group that hasn't
been used in a year, could have people who claim it looking in it
sometimes for messages. Rolex found a group like that, and refused to
leave it when it's owners protested his use of it. Unfortunately, they
were Trolls, and we have yet to escape the consequences of THAT.

Well, in the paranoid.  :-)

This isn't such a benign and carefree environment. Posters risk their
freedom to post here, and even their lives. Sometimes, encryption with
private messages is justified, not that it seems to be strongly so in
this case, which you didn't know when you first protested.

> JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!  PLEASE stop posting private messages in front

It isn't, but your desire is equal to his, in value. BUT, you are in
the negative position, and he the positive, in that he actually posted
things of real value, to at least one person.

But why are you so frustrated? Does this little harmless incident
really warrant such a highly charged rant? Or do you have something
else that's bothering you, that is contributing to your efforts here?

> So don't pretend for one minute that I am trying to control this group
> or claim special rights here.  That's what YOU have done with those
> posts.

Well, all posters do.

Don't think "for one minute" (ha!) that I disagree with your position
on this matter. HOWEVER, I think you are being unnecessarily harsh with
him, which doesn't seem to be most like the you that I know.

Some years ago, Doc posted some encrypted files in a long unused and
mostly unknown group. He announced they were private, to his internet
son MTB. Someone objected. I defended Doc's posts. They were the only
way he could get them to MTB, and were actually audio recordings of
private conversations.
Would you have objected to the posts? Or agreed with them? If you had
agreed, would it have been because you approved of the reason? And if
so, does that mean that posters' reasons for posting have to be
announced and approved by you before they should post private things?
Is not this a little arrogant? There are so many questions that can be
raised by this kind of situation. Might we not consider them before we
act?

A gentle warning of the possible reactions he could encounter with his
posts, and why, would seem useful, as would recommending that he not do
it again here, and that he should seek another, less public, group for
his future posts of this kind. Things don't seem to have transpired
quite that way. Maybe next time, eh?
