"ASK ONE-EYED ABBY" (Love Advice Columnist)
==========================================

Dear One-Eyed Abby:

I really love my boyfriend, and I want to marry him, but
I am little worried that he does not have a job and has
been having difficulty finding one.

I have a good job as a mutual fund manager, and could
support both of us in the short-term, but I feel that
the long-term responsibility for contributing to our financial
well-being should be mutual, like the funds that I manage.

I realize that the economic times are difficult.
Am I being selfish or unrealistic, wanting to have my wedding
cake, and eat it, too?  Or would I risk carrying a deadbeat
for the rest of my life, if I marry him before he finds
a job?   Should I follow my heart, or bail out while I still can?

           - Loving a Loser in Louisiana

Dear Louisiana:  You two, young love-birds should try to enjoy these
fleeting moments of your naive youth before the future hits the
fan, full-force, like a cluster-f*ck of utterly futile funlessness.

You are probably more doomed than a couple of pelicans,
sandpipers or sea gulls that want to splash around and use the
Gulf of Mexico as a great, big bird-bath.

People always want to ask one-eyed gypsy fortune-tellers to tell
them about the future, but then when you try to give it to them,
straight, they always feel cheated and "gypped", and hate you for it.

I resent that ethnic stereotype of Gypsies.

You say that you've got a good job as a mutual fund manager, but your
portfolio will eventually be as defoliated as a Cambodian rice
paddy, sprayed with Agent Orange, during the Vietnam debacle.

When the Bluebird of Happiness gets into a dogfight with the
Black Raven of Death, the only real winners are the Crows who pick
at both of their bone-piles as hors d'oeuvres .

You are really as much of a loser as your lover, but just don't
know it because Destiny has not come to its fearsome fruition,
yet.  So, you might as well go ahead and get hitched,
considering that neither one of you has any real prospects
of every striking it rich.

Even if you haven't got a prayer, financially or professionally,
you can still emulate a female Praying Mantis and accept
your partner for what he is:  Food.  Whenever he has outlived
his usefulness, by providing the next generation, he still
has something to contribute to the relationship, as
a source of protein.

~~~
Dear Crabby,
I have been reading your column, and based on the advice you
give out, specifically when related to virginity, I am hoping
you can help me with the desperate situation I find myself in.
I come from a strong Catholic upbringing, and accustomed
to nuns whacking me with a ruler whenever I broke rules.
The man that I want to lose my virginity to, the man I want to
make love with for the first time is my ex-boyfriend, who has
been living with another woman for about three years now and has
two children with (the first of which isn't his). He and I had
kept in touch over the phone after we had broken up, and surely
the old feelings began to re-emerge. He, of course, wanted to
begin a "relationship" outside his living arrangement, and for a
while I refused on moral grounds.
I want to have my boyfriend's baby, but also refuse to compromise
my deeply-held beliefs about purity and chastity.  What should I do?
    - STICKING TO MY STANDARDS IN SAN DIEGO
Dear San Diego Standard-Sticker,
As a Catholic who believes in miracles, have you considered
the "virgin birth" route?  This approach has a firm foundation
not only in theology, also but in zoology.
Virgin births are the norm for the flower-pot snake, a female-only
creature that has spread throughout the world.
In May 2006, Flora, a Komodo dragon, living in an English zoo,
laid 11 eggs by asexual reproduction.
Based on your tawdry description of your boyfriend, it sounds
like you suffer from a lack of suitable mates.
When resources and mates are scarce, many types animals have
been known to revert to reproducing asexually.
One of the exceptions to this is mammals, like humans,
but the one notable exception to this exception was the
Virgin Mary.  I mean, she was an exception to the limitation
of being a mammal, not an exception to being human.
As a class of vertebrate, all mammals make wonderful mammas.
While atheists might regard the Virgin Mary
as a comic symbol of Christian sex-phobia, "Dear Crabby"
is of the opinion that if asexual reproduction is possible for a
Komodo dragon, then it certainly ought to be possible for the
Mother of God.
If it is possible for a mammal like Mary, then it should also be
possible for you, because with God, all things are possible,
even the biologically and scientifically impossible.
This way, you can have your baby-cake and your innocence, too.
~~~

Dear One-Eyed Abby:

I met this wonderful girl, but I'm afraid that it might be
just like the movie, "She's Out Of Your League".

She's smart, funny, poised, has eclectic interests,
an Ivy League education, and a highly responsible position.
She would be talented enough to play the piano professionally, and
memorizes Mozart compositions in minutes.  She always seems to
win when we play Scrabble or canasta.  Her manners and social
graces are impeccable.

I feel like a jerk in comparison, with unattractive looks,
a third-rate education, a dead-end job, and am generally the kind
of klutz who gets his leg caught in the tablecloth when sitting
down in a restaurant, nearly pulling the tablecloth and every on
it precariously to the edge, sending plates, forks, salt shakers,
everything...  crashing to floor, tinkling, jangling and
shattering ... causing everyone in the entire restaurant to turn
and stare, with jaws agape, eyebrows arched and guffaws muffled,
while I grin timidly in crimson-faced embarrassment.

Do I have low self-esteem?  Or should I go for it,
and hope that she can be my sweetheart?

         - Klutzy from California

Dear Klutzy:  As one who has lived too long, seen too much,
and been around the block entirely too many times, let me
tell you a little secret about women.

Have you ever seen squids mating?  No?  Boy, are you are lucky.

The courtship and mating of male and female squid
is practically like a ritualized, daily rape routine.

Males squids inject with such brutal force that half
the time, they wind up accidentally spearing and
inseminating themselves, or old rusty coffee cans,
or discarded rubber tires that are polluting the oceans.

They gush more disgusting slime than Deep Horizon having blowout.

A male squid makes the typical, beer-belching,
cheezeburger-binging American Bubba look like a
paragon of gallantry, chivalry, and courtly manners,
in comparison.

Yet, the female squid puts up with it.
Why, in Heaven's name, you ask?

It is sad, but it is because of Darwin.  Apparently, if the
female squid simply told the male to take a hike, as you
would think would be the natural thing, this is not
the way that Nature sees it.   The propagation of genes
would become less efficient, causing the sensible
females to die out along with the skanky, sexist male squids.

Unfortunately, evolution is a process of elimination.  It has
bred a kind of masochism that adapts the female squid to her
lousy, stinking environment.  This analogy of the animal
kingdom  similarly explains why so many women want to hook up
with bad boys, roughnecks, boneheads, jerks, palookas,
knuckleheads, Stanley Kowalski types, and the sundry other
low-brow riff-raff and unfortunate choices that drive their
poor mothers to distraction.

So, in the Grand Scheme of Nature, you need not have
such low esteem.  Having you for a boyfriend cannot possibly be
much worse than having squirmy sex with squiggly squid and getting
squirted with jets of slimy semen and spermatozoa in
a squalid fish tank.  So don't put yourself down.
Let her do that.

Grandma and Grandpa Smart were here and we celebrated by going
to the Downtown Houston Aquarium. Abby loved the fish when we
went to the Zoo this past February so we thought that she would
love having a little celebration with lots of fish! She loved it!

She was fascinated with watching the schools of fish swim back
and forth and her eyes got really huge when a big fish came
close to the glass. The adults celebrated with a fancy meal and

It will be very dangerous. I should not do it. I will be
blogging from places like the Himalayas, vast and barren deserts,
and FOX News studios. Horrible fates like Yetis, dehydration,
and Ann Coulter could befall me.

I may be young, yes, but this should not be a factor. I am much
more qualified to face deadly Egyptian rattlesnakes than a 40-
year-old man who has to face deadly Egyptian rattlesnakes while
worrying about what brand of milk his wife had asked him to pick
up from the store. I am doing this for the thrill of the
adventure, the ambition, because I can.

Well, people who want to criticize Abby and her family, I know
that you do it with their best interests at heart. You want to
look out for a teenage girl who has guts and determination, and
you want to criticize the fame-seeking tendencies of her parents.
I have one thing to say to you all, though:

You're all hypocrites.
