Report: Governor's Mansion Alarm System Was Broken
HOUSTON (AP) - A lawyer for state troopers says an infrared
security system designed to detect intruders wasn't working the
night that an arsonist torched the governor's mansion.
The security system used infrared beams that would sound an
alarm to troopers in a carriage house behind the mansion if
someone got over the property walls.

These poetry blogs get so lengthy, it is hard to believe
that there are things that I forget to say, but I wanted to
comment about "infra-red".
You might think that I know exactly where I am going
when I start these things, but usually it takes shape
as I go along. I often start shoveling text, and then find out
what it means, later.
When I saw "infra-red", it rang a bell like a phone call for
the Manchurian Candidate. I immediately started to
search more for "infra-red".
I was getting frustrated. I thought that maybe this was
a flight of imagination, an irrelevant tangent. I was nearly
ready to pull the whole thing out and discard it.
Then I searched - just one more time - and went straight
for a word combination of "Vermont" and "nuclear" and
"infra-red", then found the above.
"Oh", I said. "This really is meant to be here. This is
a keeper".
