Dear Mr. Donovan,
As the state's leading poet-investigator, I would
offer my assistance to State Fire Marshall,
Stephen D. Coan, in the search for clues to determine
what caused the dramatic explosion at a Danvers chemical
plant at 2:46am on Wednesday.
Wednesday is considered either the third or the fourth
day of the week, between Tuesday and Thursday.
The name comes from the Middle English "Wednes dei",
which is from Old English "Wodnes daeg", meaning the day
of the Germanic god Woden who was a god of the
Anglo-Saxons in England until about the
7th century AD. Wodnes daeg is like the Old Norse
thinsdagr ("Odin's day"), which is an early
translation of the Latin dies Mercurii
("Mercury's day"). Although Mercury (the messenger
of the gods) and Woden (the king of the Germanic gods)
are not equivalent in most regards, both gods guided the
souls of the dead to the underworld.
I am not sure if this information is relevant, but
I just thought that I would mention it.
Now, as for the time of the explosion. Since nothing
in God's universe is random, owing to God's great
wisdom, there must be some compelling reason why
the explosion happened precisely at 2:46 am, not
2:45 am, not 2:47 am.
For this, I propose three possible connections.
One has again to do an underworld river and
dead souls, from Greek mythology (reference [1]).
Reference [2] has something to do with a witch doctor
and two variations of a queen. I don't know what.
Reference [3] says only that the
"Rise of the Witch King has Gone Gold".
Possibly significant, because it mentions witches.
I fully agree with the multi-disciplinary approach
to this investigation. I, myself, in addition to
being a one-eyed poet, once majored in chemical
engineering. During college, I was once was starting
a summer job, analyzing water samples for a pollution
control study at a Cleveland, Ohio steel mill.
However, after discovering that I could not enter the
mill because of the blind eye, I eventually turned
to the poetry field, where I realized that I could
become the best one-eyed, poet-investigator in the
state, because I was the ONLY one-eyed
poet-investigator in the state. By simple process
of elimination.
In addition to studying tell-tale craters, blast patterns,
and burn levels, to pinpoint the cause of the blast,
I would like to propose also holding a seance in the
darkness. This is because, if my theory is correct
that witchcraft must be involved in the ink-plant
explosion, then surely the witches would have used
invisible ink, like spies. This would have disappeared
without leaving a trace (REFERENCE [4]).
The other usual suspects should be rounded up.
These include 1) ghosts of Indians, who get annoyed
every Thansksgiving, 2) Turkey Terrorists, who harbor
deep grievances every Thanksgiving for other obvious
reasons, 3) Howie Carr, the hate-mongering
journalist for the Boston Herald, whose inflammatory
rhetoric and toxic poisons surely could be adequate
in themselves to cause an entire city to explode,
in due time, my friend, in due time.
Reference 5 - 13 provide additional information,
exploring a widespread pattern of actual and
imagined explosions, which probably will be
revealing, if any or all of them can be connected.

through the rubble Tuesday to determine what caused
an explosion at a weapons factory that is believed
to have killed two workers.
The 19,300-acre plant employs about 800 workers and
produces missile warheads, tank ammunition, artillery
rounds and other weaponry. American Ordnance received a
$15 million government contract this spring to supply
155 mm Howitzer rounds through 2008.
The factory has a rich history in producing weapons for
America's military arsenal, including the production
of Cold War-era nuclear weapons from the 1940s
to the mid-1970s.

NEWSFLASH, Washington, D.C. - A gigantic explosion
rocked the heart of Washington's political district
Thursday morning. Taken out in the explosion was the
White House and most of the surrounding structure,
including the Capitol. The few surviving witnesses
described a brilliant white light before the explosion
vaporized all buildings and people within a 1-mile radius.
The death toll is said to be in the tens of thousands.
The explanation for the explosion is not clear, but area
physicists are pointing to some sort of physical event
similar to matter and anti-matter coming in contact
with one another.

On this date in 1951, the first phase of Operation
Buster-Jangle concluded with the Easy Shot explosion,
a 31-kiloton blast that exposed thousands of troops
from the 231st Engineer Combat Battalion to large doses
of radiation. Easy Shot was the fifth and final test in
the "Buster" series; two low-yield "Jangle" detonations
followed later in the month on November 19 and November 29.
Exploding 1314 feet above the ground, Easy Shot was
heaved from a B-45 bomber while soldiers circled the a
rea at 15,000 feet in a C-54 aircraft. Their sole purpose
was to absorb radiation so that its effects --
including changes to the subjects' "visual acuity" --
might be measured. On the ground, Company A of the
231st Engineering Battalion was six miles from the blast,
having already been brought into a forward position
in preparation for Able Shot on October 22.
After each detonation, Company A was transported to
ground zero to repair the desert and retrieve debris;
they were not provided with respiratory equipment.
Private Bill Bires was present throughout the Buster
series and recorded his experiences throughout the
Buster-Jangle series. On 5 November 1951, he wrote,
"we marched around to our grandstand viewing area
to watch Shot Easy which would turn out to be the
largest of all the shots yet. It was at Shot Easy,
I believe, that one of our squad tents (16-man tent)
was blown down in our bivouc area, about 6 miles away,
which was an indication of the power of this device.
The brilliant flash and thunderous noise that accompanied
the explosion struck me with awe and fear. The heat from
Easy warmed our backsides on a cold, winter morning in
the desert. When I came away from the test site this
time, I came away with the realization that we could
destroy ourselves. These people weren't stopping.
The explosions kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger."
