Sarasota County Fire Chief Mike Regnier talks to the media about the wareho
use fire on Packinghouse Road. Calls came in at 4:52 a.m., currently a 6-al
arm fire, approximately 80 firefighters on scene. SCSO is assisting with tr
affic needs and additional support. At this time, no injuries reported.

Detectives are asking the public for assistance identifying the suspect who
burglarized a Sarasota home on November 23. The incident occurred between
2:30 and 3:30 p.m., in the 5000 block of Olive Avenue. Surveillance video c
aptured the suspect pacing through the living room before stealing several
personal items, cash and jewelry. The suspect appears to have tattoos on hi
s left bicep and on the back of his neck. At the time of the crime, he was
wearing gloves, a Nike Air t-shirt, athletic shorts and a hat. Anyone with

SCSO is advising the public that Jeffrey Wiethoff, DOB 12/12/54, has regist
ered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County. Wiethoff was convicted
of Lewd or Lascivious Battery on a Victim Under 16 in 1989 in Hillsborough
County and sentenced to sex offender probation. In 2000, Wiethoff was conv
icted of violating his probation and sentenced to prison. He just moved to
North Port from Charlotte County and reports his address will be on Lovett

Detectives concluded their investigation into the shooting of a man in Engl
ewood on November 18, and are holding 51-year-old Jeanne Martelli accountab
le for the crime. Deputies were called to Martelli's home just after 2:00 a
.m., where Martelli claimed to have shot her boyfriend after the couple got
into a physical dispute. The victim denied any altercation and told detect

Ernest Chambliss of Englewood faces a minimum of 15 years in prison after a
federal jury found him guilty on Monday of possessing a firearm as a convi
cted felon. The investigation began in 2015 when undercover detectives lear
ned that he was selling narcotics and firearms out of his home. Because of
his prior felony convictions, detectives enlisted the assistance of ATF. On
two separate occasions in April, Chambliss sold detectives narcotics and a
semi-automatic pistol. In the months that followed, he was indicted on fed
eral charges and deemed an Armed Career Criminal, further enhancing his sen
tencing. The sheriff's office would like to thank ATF as well as the States
Attorney's Office for their partnership in a rigorous investigation and su

62-year-old Alan Ralph is behind bars today without bond after a woman caug
ht him looking up her skirt on not one, but two separate occasions, while s
hopping at a Sarasota Walmart. Video surveillance obtained from the store c
onfirmed the victim's account and also showed Ralph victimizing other women
who didn't notice what he was doing. Detectives believe there are more vic
