Ah, yup, many service providers drop all the binary groups, which is why
alt.lycra.pictures left "binary" out of the name when it was created over
10 years ago. But as more groups started doing the same service
providers started dropping any binary posts in any group, which
apparently is what your provider is doing :-(. Nearly all free on-line
newsgroup feeds do the same.
If you do get a new ISP or go with a separate newsgroup feed, check first
to see if they have download limits, and if they carry binary groups make
sure they don't drop ones they consider obscene. For authentication some
news servers also need you to be logged in through their ISP, so if you
have broadband but get a low-end dial-up account on the side with an ISP
that has a good news feed you might not be able to access it through your
broadband access.
