Newsgroups actually only handle text, but years ago people came out with
ways to convert digital files (pictures) to text so they could be posted.
There are a few different conversion/encryption standards that are used,
such as uuencode, yenc, and MIME. You need a newsreader or separate
program that can decode the messages and put them back into their digital
file format. There are also limits to the length of the message that can
be posted to a newsgroup, so large files are often split into sections.
I would have thought that Mozilla Thunderbird could do that (I see from
the headers that you used that to post your message.) I've got Mozilla
installed too, but haven't used it for browsing newsgroups yet. I can
give it a try and give you info on how to use it with pics if you like.
I tend to use XNews (true freeware) for browsing the newsgroups. It can
decript most of the different encryption methods automatically and
display the pictures on the screen without having to do anything special
as long as the pictures have not been split into sections. If they have
it makes you save the picture to your hard drive first.
