Should you wish to form your own opinion in regard to the
early days of The Fort, you could do worse than to review
the messages posted to it at that time, at least some of
which are archived in Google Groups.

or, more cautiously, by googling to the first hit for
google groups
and entering "alt.fan.prettyboy" in the [Search Groups]
box; this latter will take you to a disambiguation page
which also lists other groups "related" to The Fort. To
reach a group's index, click first on its name, and then
on the [About this group] box on the page that comes up.
You will probably have to click through an Adult Content
Warning page to access the index, but once you are there,
you need only click on the number at the intersection of
a year and a month to pull up headers and the first batch
of messages; scrolling up and down the headers scrolls
through the messages.
The [Search this group] box, which has been malfunctional
for years, was, quite concidentally, finally made to work
(more or less) properly only yesterday.
The first NP post in the archive happens to be the first
post for February 1998; before that, the group was only
occasionally and desultorily boy-related, hosting mostly
get-rich-quick-at-home schemes immediately prior to its
unprovoked infestation by... well, why not decide who
did what, and when, for yourself?
