Yes. I would submit that the tribe these young tykes are emulating
probably derive from the east coast, much closer to the license plate
namesake than the Ute tribe, which roamed the Intermountain West..
Warriors of many Eastern Native American Indian tribes wore the
traditional pate-cut these boys are sporting, known as a scalp lock,
as a style of flag, often highly decorated, with which to taunt the
enemy into attempting to "take it." To my knowledge (which is scant
at best) the tribe furthest west to wear this kind of topknot was the
Pawnee. The Ute were not known to wear such cranial decoration.
I also note the lads were playing a version of stick ball, somewhat
related to lacrosse, and having a bomb of a time at it!
