ST. LOUIS, March 1 (UPI) - A federal grand jury in St. Louis Thursday
indicted an ex-pizzeria manager accused of abducting two boys who were
later rescued from his apartment.
Federal prosecutor Catherine L. Hanaway said Michael Devlin, 41, has
been named on four counts of child pornography and two counts of
transporting a minor across state lines to engage in illegal sexual
activity apartment, CNN said. He faces up to 170 years in prison if
convicted on the charges alleging he made Polaroid photographs and
videos of Shawn Hornbeck, and took him to Illinois and Arizona.
Devlin also could be sentenced to life if convicted on dozens of
previously filed state charges stemming from the 2002 abduction of
Hornbeck, 15, and the January kidnapping of Ben Ownby, 13, who were
freed from Devlin's apartment in Kirkwood, Mo., Jan. 12.
Devlin pleaded not guilty to all the charges and remains jailed in
Franklin, Mo., on $1 million bail pending further hearings.
I'm sickened by it, Hanaway told CNN. This minor, over the course
of five years, had child pornography produced with them as the victim,
and was taken across state lines so that illegal sex acts could be
committed.
