Stephen's Secure Blog #313
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 17 in this story, in Summer of year 7 of his special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #313 "Another UMD Meeting"
START Page
UMD called, and asked for another meeting. I was asked, "You said our
teachers could use your teaching methods on themselves. Would you tell
us what they are?" I said "We have a way of transferring knowledge
directly from one mind to another. My advanced students can do that,
with each other. For those who are less advanced, we can store those
memories externally, and they are accessible to others, in a way which
anybody can use, which is not forgotten. Functionally, it's like
reading a book, or seeing a video in a second, and not being able to
forget it. It's applicable for anything you need to memorize. There are
two negative issues with that. You want to be careful what you take
that way, so you don't memorize something you don't want, and too much
use can reduce creativity, which is why we need teachers, and the
students have to USE the things they learn that way, before going on to
the next level. Very convenient way to learn languages. You might want
to know how often one can use that method. It depends on the
intelligence and talent of the individual. Some of those in my school
can do that twice a day. I mean, two complete university courses a day.
The average student, between beers and pizzas, maximum one about every
one to two weeks."
One said "Could we have a demonstration?" I grinned and said, "You
were supposed to ask that." They laughed. I passed around a crystal of
my demonstration at Shaolin, and told them how to use it. I said "Some
of the more complex crystals have chapters, and levels, and
introductions, and even quizzes. Our teaching crystals have a failsafe
feature. They will not work on people who would be harmed by them. So
if a student tries one too soon after using the last one, it won't
work. There can be other restrictions on their use. We have other
useful technologies as well. We also teach mind management, which
improves learning significantly, and even boosts IQs."
One said "This is amazing! Why haven't you shared this with the
world?" I said "Only a few of us can make them, one at a time, and it's
NOT easy. We have to know what is going to go in the crystal, and put
it in there from our own minds. And it needs to be used in concert with
our other teaching methods, or it could do more harm than good." One
said "What other methods?" I said "Our mind management skills allow
direct management of memory, such as organization, and
compartmentalization, and focused concentration. Our mind/computer
interface training, helps with that, too. We don't need keyboards to
put words on a page, and our computer screens can work like personal
illusions, seen directly by the mind. Each of you now has a little box
in front of you that is a computer, keyed to work only for you, and me,
your teacher. Touch the crystal to read the instructions, and then read
the interface controls." They did that, and were beyond amazed. I said
"We discovered that making documents was a severe bottleneck in the
educational process. So was reading them. We have significantly reduced
the time and effort it takes to do those things. If we hadn't, use of
the crystals would have provided little benefit." They played with
their computers, and some tried out the external projected screens,
too.
After a while, I said, "Please turn off the computers, so we can
continue with the discussion. I know you have another big question to
ask." Reluctantly, they complied. One said "Why haven't you made this
public before?" I said "This technology is so advanced, that it cannot
be understood by any other science I know of. It would ruin the
economy, stifle innovation, and do other bad things, if this were put
on the market. And again, they have to be made and keyed individually,
by people who have other, more important things to do." He said "What
could be more important than education?" I said "Existence. Do you
think we are alone in the universe? We are in the sphere of influence
of an interstellar organization, and there are others, called the
Galactic Council. We are classified as Restricted, which means we are
not ready for offworld contact, and member worlds are forbidden to
visit us openly. They are supposed to protect us from non member
worlds. They don't, because they aren't able to. I and my people do
that, and we have stopped many invasions, and other nasty things. In
fact, it got so bad, we are doing that now for the rest of the galaxy,
too. I see your surprise. Did you think my teleporting was restricted
to just one world? It isn't, and hundreds of billions of intelligent
beings owe their lives to that. We will NOT allow interstellar wars.
Oh, I strongly suggest that you don't make that public, or I will be
seriously displeased. You do NOT want that to happen." They looked like
they agreed.
One said "Project Bluebook?" I said "In my previous life, one of
their teams actually tried to kidnap me, to have me look at some flying
teacups, or some such." One grinned widely, and said, "That was the end
of them!" I said "Actually, yes. We eventually took it over. Now there
is no need. We will not allow any alien spaceships to enter this solar
system without permission. The particular aliens, the short pale ones
with the big eyes, who were doing the worst to us, are now blockaded on
their own world, and will never leave it, for which the rest of the
known galaxy is grateful. The Council observation post is emptied.
Well, some of the people in it were dealing drugs. We are the Guardians
of Earth. When Earth is ready to go to the stars, it will be on Earth's
terms, not theirs. But they already know us, from the work of myself
and my team, as good and just people. We have prepared the way. When
the time is right, those of Earth will be welcomed with love and
respect. But, that will happen only when humanity grows to deserve it!
That's what I'm trying to help along, now. Want to be a part of that?"
After some recovery, the boss cleared his throat, and said, "Put
simply, yes. Now for what I think you mean by the big question we asked
you here for. Will you allow us to send most of our students to your
school there, as part of their required study curriculum?" I grinned,
and said, "Yes." There were some big sighs if relief. I said "But
tuition goes with them, like any other enrolled student. Tibet's
economy needs it. Another restriction. The number of your own students
there cannot exceed the total number of the other unaffiliated students
in our university programs." One said "I knew you would say something
like that." I nodded and said, "Thinking ahead, helps to keep it
attached to your shoulders." Some appreciative chuckles. One said "So
it is in our best interest, if we want our own students to benefit from
Tibetan education, to strongly encourage students all over the world,
even from rival universities, to enroll there." I grinned really wide,
and said, "Absolutely!" One said, "In a previous life, were you
Machiavelli?" I said "No, I wasn't, but I did meet him a few times.
Very intelligent man. Funny, too." One said "Who were you?" I said
"It's best not to go there. Leads to too may questions, and too many
complications which aren't needed here and now. It's the future we
should be concerned with."
One said "We would like to establish an office there, as soon as
possible." I said "Yes. The prospect of competition can do that." At
the look that received, I said, "I assure you I was not interested in
his political views at that time. And he didn't write them down until
later, which nobody really knew much about until after his death,
anyway." Some nods. I said "I'll transport teachers, and other staff,
when the schools are about to open. Before that, is your problem. I
don't have time to deal with regular things. Few people in Tibet know
how to make a country or government. Most in power now, want me to
babysit them. I have refused." One said "So you are just leaving them
to sink or swim?" I said "Sinking is not an option. I have given them
an advisor, who will coordinate the affairs and the advice of those not
in government I had already prepared, who have the expertise to help
them. I told the ministers that he is my right hand in that, who is the
Abbot of a very large Monastery, which is as far from the capital as it
can be. He is in Lhasa now, with his staff, and is of significant help
to them. He suspected I would do something like that, which is why I
chose him. I prepared for all of this, before I started my campaign to
free Tibet." One said "Did you teach Machiavelli?" We laughed.
The boss said to the others, "I think we should get to work on this,
before he owns us." More laughter, and some speculation, which he
noticed. He said, "Er, please forget I said that. I meant before, oh,
forget that, too." More laughter. I said "You, and the university, are
in no danger of my taking over, or owning, anything. I'm just trying to
get Tibet going, and doing that by making it a center for education. I
don't rule anything or anybody, not even my own students. I just do the
best I can, with what I think is right, and encourage others who can,
to help. Those who go along with that, well, they haven't regretted it
so far." One said "The Chinese?" I said "After they go along with me.
Before, there could be needed some useful er, inducements, if their
cooperation is necessary. Here is it isn't. There are other
universities. Speaking about that, have you selected any you would like
to reluctantly partner with?" Some chuckles. The boss said, "Not
preferentially. Any you select, we will work with as much as
necessary." I said "Well, there could be something you could do to
help. I could go to each of them, and do this all over again each time,
He looked really surprised, and said, "You mean WE could bring the
Well?" He said "They wouldn't believe us." I said "If I made a crystal
reviewing what had happened, for anything bad. He said "That could
help. What if we bring them all here, for one big meeting, using your
name as an inducement?" I said "Sure, if they are prepared enough that
I don't have to repeat myself too much. We could pass around the main
crystal, then. If you want to do it that way, here is an introductory
crystal which will work for anybody. I suggest you send somebody in
person to meet with them with the first crystal, before they come here.
I don't trust phone calls and emails. We don't want to go public too
early." He said "I agree. Better we have this up and running first, in
place in Tibet, before the world demands this new education." I said
"You should know that we reserve the right to manage our schools there.
You will be assisting, and having your extension there, but it still
will be a school of Tibet."
He said "I was going to ask about that. Will there be censorship?" I
said "No. However, if a teacher or staff member becomes so offensive to
the values of Tibet that people can't stand him or her, well, that
person might be asked to leave. Some examples are, severely
disrespecting a Lama or Buddhism, or committing a felony. We do require
that every full student take at least one course in ethics, and one in
comparative religions in the first year, and as a requirement for any
new transfer student. No exceptions. Staff and students are restricted
from religious proselytizing and evangelistic activities on or off
campus. Places of worship are not restricted on campus, however. More,
we will not permit any kind of discrimination based on any of the usual
differences." He said "I not only accept all that, I fully agree with
it." They all agreed with him. I said "Buddhists are unusually tolerant
of other religions, but Tibetans have had their religion so long
suppressed and abused, that to act against it there now that they're
free, could result in violence. I would rather Tibet not acquire a
reputation for that." They nodded in agreement.
I said "We will not teach our special technology. Not because we
don't want to, but because it's not possible. Only I know fully know
how it works. Some of my most advanced students can make some of it,
and be skilled in its use, but that's about it. Why, is simple. They
are super-geniuses, and what they are to regular humanity, I am to
them. I wish I could share all I know, but it's not possible. It's all
recorded in crystals, though. When there is somebody who is able to
understand at the level required, they will have that knowledge." My
tears showed them my sincerity. One said "Does that mean that your
science is in advance of those er, out there?" I said "Yes. More, I use
nothing of their technology on Earth. If I want to do something
impossible, I invent the way. I sense more related questions. Sorry, no
answers." He said "That's alright. You've given us more than we
expected."
I said "Medical care. Want some?" He said "Er, yes. What kind?" I
said "Your staff should include health clinic personnel. We can provide
the equipment. For major medical issues, until your own full teaching
hospital is established there, one of my people will be on call to
provide assistance, and transportation if necessary. We will provide
all basic services, such as food, and other things. Housing will be to
high American standard. You would be seriously er, inconvenienced by
what most Tibetans are used to, in living conditions." He said "Such
as?" I said "Like, er frozen?" Some interesting reactions. He said
"Your people. How many?" I said "Not enough. We invite about one per
one billion per generation, and not all accept. Most of them are doing
other things, and are required to be unknown to the public. We have one
in the open in Tibet, teaching in a Monastery. That he is a Christian
Fundamentalist, comes as a surprise to some people." He said "I agree
with that surprise." I said with a grin, "We agreed to let him come out
in the open, partly because of that. We like surprising people. Helps
provoke useful thought." He said "I'll have to remember that." Some
laughter.
One said, "So you are not a Buddhist organization?" I said "We are
not any kind of religious organization, however, we use religions, ALL
of them, for ethical guidance. Their leaders know and appreciate that.
Still, we are more like Buddhists than other religions, because we have
found out through experience and our science, that a lot of what is in
the core of Buddhism is demonstrable fact. While it has evolved into a
religion for many, it started as a method and way of life for personal
improvement. I think I can serve as an example of how well it can
work." One said "Absolutely!" I bowed to her. I said "Other religions
attempt to force good behavior by decree and fear. Terror, actually.
Well, eternal damnation does qualify as that. How well has that
actually worked? Buddhism doesn't just tell you what, it tells you HOW.
I have become a Buddhist by proclamation, not by my will, because I am
viewed as an example of what one should be. In my view, I am just who I
am, which is me. Externally applied labels are just that, and no more."
I said "Unfortunately, this is about me, much more than I like. I
need to stay in the public mind, and in a good way, to encourage
support for Tibet, and I have been told that it's really working. Even
though Tibet is mostly free now, donations are at an all time high. So,
I should be getting back to that work in Vienna, for the upcoming
second concert. That they like me a lot there, is just an added nice
thing." One said "I hear your concerts are amazing." I grinned and
said, "I hope so!" They laughed. She said, "I've never been to one."
I said "I sense your request. Any here who wish to attend, I will
provide for, including spouses, transportation included. It would help
if at least one of your group knew German. Let me know before Saturday.
There is one thing you might like to know. I arrive early, and do some
creative musical playing around. Some of my most unusual and best work
has come from that, which usually drives the establishment there batty
with musical lust. I can transport you at any time, but if you want to
be there when I make some new happy noises, I can take you early." She
said "Please! I want to come!" I said "I hope you don't think I was
surprised." She and some others laughed. I said "Dress formally. For
me, I'm VERY grateful that I don't have to do that. My blue suit is one
of my trademarks, so I have to wear it all the time I'm in public." She
said "Oh. What do you wear at home?" I said "I'll just say, not this. I
see that has aroused all your curiosity. Too bad." They laughed.
One said "Do any here know German?" No answer. One said to me, "Is
there something you can do about that?" I said "You know there is. But
to have it useful in so short of time is likely to involve some pain.
Of who wants to go, who here knows any Germanic language?" One said he
knew Swedish. We conversed in it. I said "Any others?" None. I said
"Who here knows the most languages?" One knew four. I said to that one,
and the Swedish speaker, "I can give you the language to be useful for
listening, and maybe speaking in time for the show, without much
discomfort. The rest might wish to pass on that." They did.
I said "Now we decide on which version. Austrian German is a little
different from Standard German, like American English is to British
high class English. Which one do you want?" They chose Standard. I said
"We have crystals for this, but they are not as good as when I do it
personally. Well, I make them, so I should know. For this now, I will
put you to sleep for a few minutes. You are likely to wake up with a
headache, because of the intensity I will have to use, which is more
than from a crystal. I can help with that. Ready? Get comfortable. I
don't want you falling onto the floor, and tripping people." Some
chuckles. They went to sleep, and when their headache would be
bearable, I let them wake. I reduced the pain. I said "How do you
feel?" They both said they had only a little discomfort. I said "What
language are we speaking?" They were astounded.
The boss said, "This is your most effective demonstration yet. Thank
you very much." I said "You're welcome. It was my pressure, er,
pleasure." They laughed. I said "One thing about being in Vienna. You
will understand everything I say there, even if you don't know the
language. That's not something I can teach. We'll have very good food
there, too, including wine and beer, but without alcohol. Please keep
me informed of events." I stood, and so did they, and I hugged them
all, one by one, with all my love. Then I said "I am love. Thank you."
I ported to Vienna for rehearsals.
