Stephen's Secure Blog #266
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 17 in this story, in late Winter of year 7 of his special
school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #266 "President at Shaolin"
START Page
I said to the Abbot, after I had ported us to his office, from the
meeting with the King, "I added something about my first life to your
crystal, and to the PM's and the King's. You might tell them that. You
may share any of that information with other Abbots, in accordance with
your own judgement. I sense your question. Yes, I will be writing down
all of interest, before I leave this life. Some of it will be
restricted to my own students, and some to Abbots, and the rest will be
available to the general public. Now I need to go and settle myself."
We bowed to each other, and I ported to my house on Allguard. Rose and
Hawk were there. We were undressed, and just hugged each other with
love the rest of the day. It was a nice time.
I sent an image to the President of China, and said, "Greetings. If
you are available for discussion, we can do that. If not, I can go
away, and probably do something sexual." He laughed. He said "Please
remain." I said "I note with interest that the listening posts for your
office have been abandoned. I feel so unwanted." He laughed some more.
He said "My associates realized that I shared what they needed to know,
without that assistance, and felt that exposing the technicians to all
that was an unnecessary risk of exposure." I said with a grin, "I can
do that exposure thing very well, myself, if desired." He grinned back.
I said "Should I be here in person?" He said "That would be pleasing."
I ported there, and sat in the nice chair they had left there.
He said "I note your new citizenship in Thailand." I said "It wasn't
something I asked for, or even desired. Bad precedent. At least they
aren't going to get any taxes from me. I don't earn any money for
myself." He said with a smile, "That would be disappointing for other
countries who might want to grant you citizenship." I said "Yours?" He
said "It was considered, mostly as a way to catch you on a charge of
treason. I told them it was stupid." I said "You're becoming bold in
your old age." He said "I try." We laughed. I said "I notice the square
is still filled." He said "We can't get them out, without cutting them
up, and demolishing buildings. We know you can do it easily, so we are
leaving them there for a time when you might do that for us." I said "I
understand, but there is an issue with that. Being who I am, I cannot
repair or make such weapons operational, or even assist in that in any
way. I can move the ships, but not enable them to be used again." He
said "I had not thought of that. In a way, I am glad you don't support
weapons, because that means you will not help other countries with
them." I said "Yes. None of my people will do that. We can't. It isn't
who we are. In fact, it pains us that they even exist, but we must let
societies work out their own problems, with the least interference
possible."
He said "You haven't asked the question I thought you would." I
grinned, and he laughed. He said "You enjoy that, don't you." I said
"When I can, I try. Keeps people thinking, which is good." He said "It
doesn't feel good to your victims." I gave him an evil grin, and he
laughed. I said "Before you tell it, I should tell you a story." I told
him about my father, and how his attempt at bargaining went. I said
"There are many other stories like that I could tell you, if time were
unlimited." He said "So, taking advantage of your generosity can result
in less?" I said "Isn't that really how it usually is in life? I just
see that is so, as it should be, more obviously and immediately, than
is often experienced." He looked surprised, and then very thoughtful.
He said "So, what they say about you is true. You really ARE
enlightened. So much so, you can be no other way." I said "I don't
think about it that way. I am just who I am, and can be no other way
than er, me." I grinned and said, "I'm not dissatisfied with that." He
said "I can understand that." I said, "A slight correction. It's not
generosity. It's fairness. I know what is fair. Therefore, anything
which is not in compliance with that, is unfair, which I do not
support. Then there are consequences for bad actions to be considered.
If they are appropriate, they should be applied. It's not what I
personally desire, but things must balance. I can't ignore my
responsibility to support that, or things would become much worse." He
was very thoughtful.
He said "I see. You stopped me from almost causing a consequence. You
will give me a recording of this meeting?" I said "Like always. I
realize that most would not believe what you say about me without the
support of such evidence. You could remind them that in justice, I can
still do much worse to China than I have so far." He nodded.
I said "Did you know that a government employee tried to steal a gift
I gave to the Abbot of the Shaolin Temple, a jade bowl?" He said "I
didn't know that. Should I assume that it was unsuccessful?" I said
"Absolutely! When he tried to leave the Temple with it, the bowl
vanished from his hands, and appeared back where it had originally been
given to the Abbot. This happened a number of times, severely
frustrating the thief, I was told." He laughed. I said "When I next
visited the Abbot, and he told me about what had happened, I asked him
what gift I should give him that the thief wouldn't attempt to take,
and he said a big flowerpot. Here is what I made." He laughed and said,
"And the sign, too. Funny." I said "Here is a picture of them now. I
see he left the signs in place. Would you like to see them in person?"
He said "YES!" And then covered his mouth in embarrassment. I laughed,
and then so did he. I said "I just informed the Abbot, and he is
expecting us. Do you wish to tell your people of your visit?" He picked
his intercom handset and told them he would be unavailable, and not to
disturb him, for an hour. We stood, and I ported us to the hall where
the pots were.
He looked surprised and disappointed. I grinned and said, "I'm sorry
to disappoint you, but we do NOT want anything exciting to happen in
this method of transportation, such as ending up inside solid matter,
or in airless space, or with different parts of us in different
places." He looked a little unnerved, and asked, "Has that ever
happened?" I said "No. We are very careful." The Abbot came in and we
all bowed to each other. He said "I too was disappointed in the
experience, but now I am relieved he didn't describe the possibilities
BEFORE I went with him." They shared their feelings about that. I said,
"So there are the flowerpots. But why are there no flowers in them?" He
said, trying not to grin, "The signs don't require watering." The
President laughed, and said, "I see you have been with Stephen a lot."
He said "That I have, and his humor is contagious. Would you like a
tour of our Temple?" He said "I would, very much! Thank you." I tagged
along, but received most of the very deep bows. Back at our starting
point, the President said to the Abbot, "I noticed that Stephen
received the most respect." He said "When he first came here, there was
a serious problem. He corrected it in a er, very powerful way, which
resulted in my election as Abbot. None of us will ever forget what he
did, as long as we live, and perhaps longer." The President laughed
loudly. When he could, he said, "Please forgive me, but I completely
understand that, as all China will some day." They nodded and grinned
at each other.
I said to the President, "Somebody is trying to knock down the door
to your office. I am preventing that, but there is likely to be a
larger effort soon. He said "Yes, I should return." I said "When you
are ready, I'll send you back. You know how to contact me when you have
changed what you wanted me to ask about." He nodded, and we all bowed
to each other. I said "May I show the Abbot what transpires with the
door after you return? He grinned and said, "Yes. It might be
interesting." Then I ported him to his office. He sat at his desk, and
I released the door, and people barged in. The President looked up and
said, "Why are you here? I told you I was not to be disturbed for an
of do not disturb do you not understand?" No answer. He said "I suggest
you refresh your understanding of language, if you wish to have
continued employment here. Now go!" They went, and the President had
some difficulty in keeping his laugher silent. I said in the air,
"Thanks for the show. Going now." He laughed some more, as I stopped
the projection for the Abbot, who was still laughing. Then he said, "He
has learned humor from you, also." I said "Yes, but most of them are
inoculated against that condition." He said "Sad, but I think you might
still keep trying." I said with an evil grin, "Perhaps." He laughed. I
put recordings of the time with the President on two separate cards,
the part in his office, and the part with the Temple visit, in case he
wanted to keep that secret.
I said to the Abbot, "What do you think about the movies which have
been made about the history of your Temple, and the martial arts in
them?" He said "Some are interesting." I said "Oh, such high praise!"
He laughed. I said "How would you like to have movies of REAL martial
arts moves and fights, in three dimensional illusions, with life sized
people, from different times in history, from all over the world?" He
said "Wow! That would be the greatest gift, ever! Absolutely! We would
love to have that!" I said "It should be in a large open practice
area." We went to one such place. I put a series of 20cm diameter blue
jade posts near one side of the square.
I told the Abbot, "This lighted ring around the post controls the
playback of the movie. Move your finger along the line, and the speed
of the action, forward and backward, will increase or decrease with the
direction of your movement. Tap the line to freeze the action. Move
your finger across the line, vertically, to move to the next frame, or
back, by the direction of the vertical action of your finger. To
restart normal play, move your finger along the line again. These
labeled spots on the post, are different movies, organized by place in
history and by style, one country or area per post. Tap one to start,
and tap it again to cancel. Some of these movies are actual memories,
mine, and of other people. Some are recreations, with scientific
accuracy. Here is a duel between two Samurais, 16th century." I played
it, and he familiarized himself with the controls, saying wow a lot.
Then we tried different selections, and different posts. Some of what
we played showed only training methods, and some showed actual fights
to the death, in full gory detail. Some showed details of making
weapons. Each post was numbered, and I put an index and catalog on some
of the walls.
When we stopped, he was crying. He said "I don't know how to thank
you for this." I grinned and said, "Or maybe kick me for not thinking
of it before." He had to laugh. I said "I should do this for my own
schools. Yes, you are the first, and I thought of it here just now."
Another "Wow!" And more crying. I said "Where you send your teachers in
Tibet, should have these, too." He said "That would be very helpful." I
said with a grin, "I try." He tried to smile. I said "If you would like
anything changed in this, such as some improvement, please let me know.
Would you like to see one of my fights?" He said "YES! Er, please." I
laughed. I showed him on the post where my fight in the bar on Tsuriss
was, and played it. He was very impressed. He said "But they are not of
this world. Is it wise to have that seen here?" I grinned and said, "If
we don't tell anybody it is real? I like encouraging interesting
thoughts in people." He laughed. I said "Someday all the world will
know about such things. If they are prepared for that, little by
little, it's eventual happening might happen a little easier and less
shocking." He bowed low to me and said, "You are wise." I said "Well,
you might think differently, after you have seen the other fights I've
included, from offworld." He said "Oh!" And started looking for them. I
said "I will leave you to that happy task. Have fun. Farewell." We
bowed, and I ported away.
