Stephen's Secure Blog #181
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 16 in this story, in the Summer after year 6 of his special
school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #181 "Srinoy Replay"

We walked back to the car. Srinoy said "Making a Buddha. Wow!" I
poked him, and said, "Not yet. Maybe not for a long time. They have to
decide some things. Could take a while. Have you seen the one in the DC
Temple?" He said "No, I haven't. I didn't know they had a big one." I
said "They had to build a special room for it. A full person size
statue of solid emerald is VERY heavy." He stopped dead in his tracks,
and said a really loud "WOW!" I said "I don't think they needed to hear
that in Bangkok." He ignored that, and said, "You could do that for our
Temple, too?" I said "I hope not." Before he would cry, I said, "I
would like it to not be a copy, but something unique. I'm an artist,
you know." He felt much better.
I said "I can make anything out of the basic elements, but we all
know it should be made of a natural substance." He nodded. I said "It
might take years, if ever, before I find an emerald that big again." He
said "Oh. I didn't think of that. Right. What have you got available?"
I said "In that size, that is durable enough, and without needing to be
glued together? All the kinds of rocks we have on Earth of that size,
and any non dangerous metal. In other worldly gems, black star
sapphire, but badly flawed. All colors of quartz. Lapis lazuli.
Tourmaline, mostly green. Aquamarine. Topaz. Golden chrysoberyl. Brown
zircon. Different colors of spinels. All different kinds of jade." His
mother said, "What do you YOU prefer?" I said "Golden chrysoberyl. A
deep rich semitransparent gold, almost as hard as sapphire, and almost
as rare. Robes of platinum. NOBODY would ever have anything like that!"
I dripped some tears, and said, "I can see it now. Beautiful!" Srinoy
said "You have to make it." I said "Yes, I think so. But your Temple
should choose what they want, because they'll have to live with it
forever. I can always give that one to another Temple." He said, with
his own tears, "I understand." We hugged and kissed.
I said to the parents, "We are being followed. Three of them. Two
full monks, and one student. I'm tempted to embarrass them, by grinning
and waving to them." They laughed. We got in the car and drove home.
Before we got out, I said, "We are not alone. More yellow robes,
hiding." She said "If they are still there tonight, we will invite them
in for a meal." I said "They won't take much more than rice." Srinoy
said "And tea. Probably more nutrition in it." I said "I absolutely
love Thai tea. Much better than what they drink in Tibet!" He laughed
and told his parents, "They serve that in the Temple in DC. Has yak
butter and milk in it. Most people think it's horrible." I said "Except
for Chad. He loves it. Never could make it himself, though. Maybe the
yak butter I got for him was spoiled. Speaking about spoiled, you
spoiled a good gang fight. Want to review it?" They all did.
I said "I'll project it. I think we shouldn't care about methods. We
can't really explain them well. While Srinoy was leaving us, I pushed
into his mind, which is one of the ways we share information, all I
knew about the situation. I did NOT recommend any course of action. Why
do you think that is?" His father said, "So he would create one
himself?" I said "That's part of it, but there is a more basic
operational answer." He didn't know. Srinoy said, "What he knew was of
the moment he sent the information to me. Any suggestions would have to
be based on that, and not on the rapidly changing situation I would
find when I got there. In fact, that would have distracted me." His
father nodded, and said, "I see. There is more to this than I thought."
I said "We have to remember, there always is, and to be prepared for
that. Now I'll play the recording."
Srinoy left the restaurant, but not walking directly to the action.
He went into a shadow, and came out of it in a different direction,
looking like an adult Buddhist monk. His father said, "So that's why
you wouldn't be recognized!" He walked into the middle of the argument,
and waited. Gradually, the arguing gang members quieted. Srinoy bowed,
and said "Please tell me the problem." They did. He said to the girl in
command voice, and in her brain, "You will answer my questions, and
truthfully, and not leave me until I say we are finished." Then he
said, "Were you a girlfriend to this boy?" She said "Yes." That she was
defiant and not respectful, didn't sit well with the gang members. He
said "Did you then become a girlfriend to this other boy from a
different group?" She said "Yes. Why do you care?" They really didn't
like that. Srinoy ignored it, and said, "Did you know before you did
that, that it would cause trouble between the groups?" She said, after
a struggle, "Yes." She also felt a little fear then. She tried to back
away, but obviously couldn't.
He said "Did your new boyfriend ask you to come to him, or did you do
it without his asking?" She said "He didn't ask." He said "Did you tell
him that your previous boyfriend didn't want you anymore, even though
you knew he did?" She said "Yes." She was really afraid, and all knew
she didn't want to answer the questions, but was compelled to. He said
"Why did you really want to be with the other boy?" She really tried
not to say it, but had to, and said, "I didn't. I just wanted them to
fight over me." He said "Why did you want that?" She whispered, "I like
the feeling of power that gives me." He said "Speak up, so all can hear
you." She yelled "I like that power! It feels good!" He said "You
wanted them to fight over you, knowing at least one of them would
probably die, and maybe others would be hurt or die?" She whispered,
"Yes." He stared at her. She yelled "Yes!" He said "Did you care about
that?" She said, defiantly, "No. Just the idea made me hot. I would
have gotten off watching them hurt each other." He said "So you didn't
actually care about either boy?" She said, "Those dirt piles? Not at
all."
Srinoy said to the gang members, "Is THIS worth fighting over?"
Silence. He said "I didn't hear anything. I'll listen harder." Some
said "No, Master." He said "Ah. I think my hearing is restored. Have
you known other women such as this, who would manipulate you for their
destructive pleasure?" Some nodded. He smiled and put his hand to cup
his ear, and some smiled and said, "Yes, Master." He said "Do you think
that is good?" Some very definite disagreement was expressed. He said
"Would you like better quality women to be attracted to you, who could
love and respect you?" Some were enthusiastic when they said, "Yes
Master!" He grinned and said, "That wasn't unexpected." Some smiles and
polite laughter. He said "There is a way to help that to happen. Ah! I
thought you would be interested." Some grins in response. He said "You
have always had that power. If you become somebody who can love and
respect a woman for who she is, and treat her with consideration, you
will receive that in return. Yes, it is that simple. As you are now,
you attract the kind of women who are most like you. Think about that.
Change yourself for the better; be who all people can respect and love,
that the kind of woman you desire, who is gentle and kind, can respect
and love, and that is who you can live your life with. I think that
will make you VERY happy. Who wouldn't want that?" Silence. He said "Am
I losing my hearing again?" There were a lot of favorable comments.
Srinoy said to them, "We are finished here now. Please take no action
which will harm anybody. I am not of the Temple here, but they will
know what we have done. Please go to them if you have troubles like
this in the future. They will help. After all, that is what they are
for. I will go now. Please do not follow. May Buddha bless you." He
bowed, and turned and walked away. Behind a building, in shadow, he
dropped the disguise. The gang members dispersed, without any
incidents, looking very thoughtful. The girl stalked off, very angry,
and a little fearful. I ended the projection. I said "Comments?"
His parents just sat there, stunned. I grinned and hugged their son,
and said, "That did it. Speechless." He grinned back at me. We waited.
Then I gently pushed him at them, and he went to hug and kiss them, and
they returned that with a lot of enthusiastic love. The father said to
me, "How?" I said "How what? You saw everything. All he did was talk."
He said "So mature and wise!" I said "Well, that I can explain. It's
very simple. That's what he is. There isn't much opportunity or need
for a little boy to show it at that level in everyday life, so you
couldn't see it demonstrated like that, before. Am I right in guessing
you want to know how he got that way?" They nodded, mutely. I said
"From you. Yes, you, and all the other good people who have been in his
life, and that has been a LOT of mature and wise people. With his great
intelligence and perception, he absorbed that like a sponge, so it
became a part of him. Our training and education helps to bring that
out, and provides tools and techniques to express it when it is needed.
He is a full Guardian, and is fully capable of doing what a Guardian
does. He did just that, today. Sure he is twelve, but to us, there is
no 'only' in front of that. We evaluate ourselves based on qualities
which have nothing to do with age. Oh, by the way, it's perfectly
alright to be proud of him." They gave him another round of hugging and
kissing.
After that was almost over, I said, "Srinoy, any comments?" He said
"Thank you Stephen, for giving me the information you had. What I did,
just came from me like it was from another person, but I didn't
question it, because I knew it was right. I knew it was me doing it,
but it was like I was just watching myself." I nodded and said, "That's
often how it happens. You weren't thinking about what to do, because
you knew, and just let it flow. Like in the no-mind state in martial
arts. You are so deep into the do, there is no think, or need for it."
He said "Wow!" I said with a grin, "I agree. And none could have done
