Stephen's Secure Blog #167
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 16 in this story, in the Spring of year 6 of his special
school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #167 "Approaching Other Guardians"
START Page
I had a meeting with Zander in my house on Zichesshich. I gave him a
briefing on our recent discoveries, and something of what we could do
about it. He said "That betrayal issue is significant. The dead people
walking is disgusting, but I see why you might want to use that
tactic." I said "The more disgusting, the better for us." I told him
some details I had thought of, and the chair wouldn't let him fall out
of it laughing. Just when I though he was finished, he would start
laughing again. Finally, I said "I'm NOT going to tell you the other
things I thought of." That made him laugh again. I said "I'm going to
talk to the Guardians of the other planets. One big problem is I look
too much like the Nagindra to them. Some of your students look much
more like them than I do." He said "I understand. Who do you want?" I
said "Has to be Senior Adepts. A Posintan, and Hahchet or a Ssintris. A
Tsuriss or a Hopcher, would help make a nice assortment. They might not
be needed, but would have to be fully briefed and on standby." He said
"If you go in person, better take them with you. When those Guardians
see them hugging you, they will know better than words, your worth." I
said "I may send in one alone, first. My aura might frighten them,
before I could say anything." He said "I think you will use a
projection, first." I said "Probably just voice, to start." He said "Do
you want to brief them now?" I said "If convenient." He said "Disregard
ported in.
Dat, Harditch, and Hahchet sat down, and I gave them a minimal
briefing, and then gave them a crystal which had much more, including
the languages. Harditch started to say something and I raised my hand,
and said, "I know. Rose is working that. My crying got to her first,
and she announced at the meeting that it was her job." She nodded. I
said "There are some changes among us you should know about. Rose has
surpassed Ichi in ability, and now is second only to me. Hawk is equal
to Ichi, and might improve some." Harditch said with a grin, "So wild
sex with you has it's benefits!" I grinned back and said, "Absolutely!
AND, my promise to Rose is fulfilled, and I am now available to go all
the way, with her excited interest." She said "Oh! Great!" Zander made
some noise equivalent to clearing his throat. I said "Oh, you want me
too?" The others laughed. Zander was embarrassed a little, but had to
laugh at himself.
I said to the students, "May I inventory you, so I will know what I'm
working with?" They agreed, and I did. I said "Wow! Yes, I know how to
say that, too." They laughed. I said "I'm so proud of you, I don't know
how to say it. And not just for your abilities and skills, but for who
you are, too. I can't imagine better people. I'm SO privileged to know
you." I gave them my love, and they had some tears.
I cleared my throat, and then said, "No, Zander, I'm not asking you
to have me right now." They laughed, Zander the hardest. He said, "I
don't know how you do that so well, and across species and languages,
but I love your humor." I said "I'm not too sad about it, myself. So,
shall we get started?" They all nodded. I said "Hawk will monitor and
record."
I sent a 4th viewpoint to the home of the leader of the canine
Guardians, and made the air vibrate with my voice, in her language. I
said "Greetings. I'm speaking to you from a distance. My name is
Stephen. If this is a bad time for a little discussion, one Guardian to
another, I apologize. I will hear your reply." She said "You have
captured my interest. Please continue." I said "I will take good care
of your interest, and return it in a very healthy condition." She
grinned and said, "You are obviously not a Nagindran Adept." I said "Is
it because of my humor? I have been exploring them and the worlds they
misuse, but haven't looked for that." She said "I would be surprised if
you find it among them. What can I help you with?" I said "Strangely, I
hadn't thought of that question. I was going to offer YOU help." She
looked very interested, and said, "You know of things we would like
help with, or you wouldn't offer. What to you have in mind?" I said "I
appreciate your intelligence. Nagindra have some of your people as
slaves. With radio activated punishing and killing collars. I was
horrified when we discovered that. I WILL stop that. How it is to be
done, requires some thought." She said "I appreciate your concern, but
we do not want that changed." I said, after a pause, "I have just
discovered that I am very much not immune to paralyzing surprises." She
laughed.
you should not be telling this to somebody you have not met in person."
She said "Ordinarily, you would be right. However, your method of
communication, which I can't detect, and that you have acquired the
knowledge you have in a way which wasn't detected by the Nagindra in
power, including our language, combined with a premonition one of my
people had, causes me to risk this. And something else. You have the
power to learn anything you want from me, without my permission, but
you haven't." I said "Er, would it disturb you if I admire and love
you?" She laughed, and said, "Not in the least." I said "Would you be
willing to have some visitors?" She said "I was hoping you would offer
that. Yes, and now if you like." I said "We are of an assortment of
species, representing different worlds in a political association. We
are working with another one, too. Before we visit you, you should know
that one of us looks something like the Nagindra, and they are
distantly related. We don't want to frighten you with that." She said
"Thank you for your concern. I won't be frightened." I said "Then, if
you are ready, we will teleport to your location." She looked
surprised, and said, "You can do that? Wow!" I said "We, er, hear that
a lot." She laughed, and said, "If there is room enough for you here,
please come when you are ready."
We stood, and ported to her living room. We bowed, and she got up and
bowed in return. I said "You will recognize my voice. I am Stephen." I
did the introductions. She said in awe, "Please be seated. I didn't
know somebody with your aura could exist." I said "Actually, that's
mostly true. But I'm resisting the pull until I am ready. My friends
here, are the students of one of my students. We extend our love to
you." We did that, which she really felt. I said "You are the most
perceptive Guardian we have encountered outside of our advanced
schools. I like that a lot!" She was flattered and embarrassed.
Harditch said "Stephen is easily embarrassed, which we all try to make
happen often as often as we can. I'm sure I speak for my fellows in
this, that we look forward to you joining us in this effort." She
laughed. She said "I am Ronalda, of the planet Roven, leader of the
Secret Guardians of my world. Welcome."
My people looked at me, and I said, "I get so little respect, except
when it comes time to be responsible." I grinned. They grinned back. I
said "I am er, different. I can't really explain who I am, without
explaining things that I would use to explain that, before I could
explain other things." Ronalda said "I suspected something of that.
Please try, in the short form." I said "I'll try. In my last
incarnation, I survived only because my school for geniuses was a
secret. We were being secretly watched and experimented on by a species
from another world, called the Van. If they had noticed me, I would
have been murdered as a threat to them. I developed my abilities, and
an er, interesting technology, while still a child. I found and trained
some adepts, and established our Guardians in secret, so the Van never
discovered them. We struck back at the Van, and successfully kept them
away from our world. Then as an old man, I voluntarily reincarnated
into my own great grandson, and when I came into my full memories,
which go back over 70,000 years, and power, we took more action against
the Van, and now they can no longer leave their planet."
I said "As Secret Guardians, we had gone out from our world, which
did not, and still does not know of other worlds, and found that we
were much in advance of the Guardians of other worlds, who had also
been preyed upon by the Van. So we set up a school for them, of which
my friends here are graduates. We now consider ourselves something like
the Guardians of the Galaxy, and perform the duties of that nature. We
have stopped interstellar wars, and averted some, mostly not being
fully discovered as who we are. I set up a home on an uninhabited
planet. In an idle moment, I was exploring out from it, and saw an
ancient derelict starship. I put together a team to explore it. We
weren't the first. We followed that lead to Nagindra, and were
astounded to find Adepts out in the open, and in power, and were
horrified at what they had done and were doing. We will not allow that
to continue. We need to act relatively soon, because they are about to
discover the associations of stars where we are from, and they are are
advanced enough to cause our worlds great harm. The Nagindra learned
some things from that ship, 60 years ago, which would give them a
significant technological advantage, even more than before."
Ronalda said "That is a lot to assimilate all at once, but I did ask
for it. I'm flattered that you trust me with that knowledge." I just
grinned. She laughed. She said "Should I assume that the technology you
invented is in advance of anything the Naginata have, or are likely to
have in the foreseeable future?" I said "Well, I'll say this. We
Guardians aren't interested in what they have, for ourselves." She
grinned. I said "You might want to save that grin for something else.
Our technology depends on such qualities of mind, and very hard
training, that few people are ever able to operate it. My friends here
are the first adult students to have become what we call Senior Adepts.
We view that as very unusual, because we usually start training in
childhood. Their teacher, who is older, may never be able to use our
tech." Harditch said "We have only begun to understand it, and
understand how careful Stephen was in selecting us as students." I said
"We will accept all qualified children, but only one adult from each
new species, to train. We are having a shortage of classroom space, and
teachers. Too much more, and we might have to move the school to my new
city." Dat said "I don't think any of us would object to that. It's
absolutely beautiful." Hahchet said "Stephen is one of the best artists
in all history, and he built a city which IS art, and is full of his
art. You have to see it." I looked at him in surprise, and said, "I
didn't know you felt that way." Harditch said "We ALL do." I said a
very embarrassed, "Oh." Everybody but me, grinned. I said "This meeting
isn't going in any way I like I thought it would." They laughed.
