Stephen's Secure Blog #148
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 15 in this story, in Summer, after the end of year 5 of his
special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #148 "The News With Gikkal"

The next day I got a call from the curator, He was laughing between
his words, so it was difficult to understand them. He said "Is it
really that big?" I said "So you touched my, er, the bottom." He said
"I did, and practically jumped out of my skin. Are all your people as
sensitive as that?" I said "No, I know only of one other. But, I
haven't done much checking, either. As you felt, I can share that
feeling with others. I'm in high demand for orgies. As for the size,
well, not so much this time, for which I am really grateful. In my last
incarnation, that gave me a lot of trouble and frustration, in having
to be very selective for its er, targets, to ensure their survival. It
actually was bigger, but that would have been a little too
unbelievable. So I averaged it. Considering what I said about being
worshipped, did you really think I would give you something which would
encourage it?" He laughed and said, "I've learned not to jump to
conclusions with you." I said "Right. Better to do it alone. Have you
heard from the other recipient?" He said "Yes, he spoke to me about it,
with some very choice words. He was going to keep it on his desk at
work, and now doesn't dare to." I laughed and said, "And you?" He said
"I haven't decided." I said "Oh, your revenge. That's alright. I can
take it."
Ichi's plan for the Centaurs looked like it was working. All that was
needed now was watching to see if they needed some help remembering
their lessons, so Ichi was free to conduct Senior Adept training to
some of Zander's original students. It was decided to do that in the
reception center on Belize, with Hawk and Rose assisting. They were
Dat, Harditch, and Hahchet. I was there the first day, and said to them
through my tears, "I'm not often wrong. Even less, do I like being
wrong, because of something good. That applies to now and to you. None
of us expected you adult students to be able to progress this far. That
you have, is due to your dedication, courage, determination, hard work,
and your love. That's right, love. To be our best, we need to remove
our barriers to love. One of the reasons I trained my own Guardians,
and did the same to other species, is pure selfishness. I was lonely,
and wanted more people like me, who could share my kind of love and
closeness. Of course there were other reasons, but you already know
them. Was I wrong to be so selfish?" I was mobbed and hugged and kissed
all over. When I could, I said, "That isn't really a good answer, but I
am NOT complaining." They laughed. I said "You have worked hard. Now
you will work harder. Oh, you laugh. I can't help my reaction to your,
er, attack, and you know that wasn't what I meant. You will be working
with forces which can destroy anything instantly. Please follow
instructions very carefully, and try to resist jumping ahead of
lessons, or you could be jumping without your heads. Be good." I ported
to my house on Zichesshich.
I invited Gikkal, of the World News Company, to visit. He didn't
waste any time in doing that. I said, "I've been involved in some
newsworthy er, situations. I'm not going to ask you if you want to know
about them, because I don't want to get my face clawed off." He
laughed. I briefed him on the events involving the Confed, constantly
being interrupted by his wows. I said "We can't make some of what I
went through, public in the GC, or the Tsuriss are going to be swarming
after their blood. I don't know what the Posintans would do, and don't
want to find out. Also, we shouldn't make public my past incarnations.
That could cause some bad things with my credibility with some people,
which might interfere with some delicate situations. Oh, and the Van
are bottled up on their planet, and nobody but me and my associates can
get past the barrier in either direction, not that we want to. In fact,
there is a Confed ship there now, trying to do just that, and the crew
is very frustrated. Here is their Captain yelling at his officers to DO
something, anything. They can't, and he will be relieved of command
when he returns. A delegation will be arriving from the major planet of
the Confed very soon, to establish a planetary embassy here. I thought
it would be interesting to compare Hissssner's press releases with your
articles. You know what he said when I told him that." He laughed.
I said "After that, the delegation from the Confed itself will
arrive, and have an embassy for the GC, and will try their best to ruin
everything. That's why I'm arranging for them to be last, with their
President of the Assembly's approval. He has little control over
diplomatic missions. I could have demanded better people from the
Confed, but I wanted them to be equal to the GC people." He almost fell
out of his chair laughing. I said, grinning, "Their PA had the same
reaction. Here are some memory cards of what happened, and some
interviews and documents. After you look them over, we can work
together on a plan of publicity which will satisfy your editors, if
that's possible. Just be sure to put in the usual mistakes, so they
have something to correct to justify their existence." He tried to say
"Right" in the middle of laughing. I said "I can't force you to write
or not right anything, and wouldn't if I could. I can just advise you
on possible and likely consequences, in light of things I might know
that you don't. What you do can cause bloody war, or some interesting
peace. I trust you to do what is best for all, and not just in exchange
for the scoop of a lifetime."
He said, very seriously, "I know that. This is going to take a lot of
work, but it will be worth every bit of it. Don't expect me to thank
you for choosing me. I couldn't do that enough." I said "I never
considered choosing another. If you hadn't existed, well, I don't know
what I would have done, but it sure wouldn't have been the optimum.
Some of what I planned for this, is based on you and what you can,
would, and will do, because of who you are." He almost cried. I said
"Fate is strange, but has earned my approval." He said "And that is
high praise indeed." I grinned and said, "I'll find out when I get
there, what they think of it. Maybe they'll offer me a job." He looked
strange, and said, "I know you are more serious than you might have
intended. When you leave us, I have every confidence you WILL have that
job, or something similar, and I view that as being great for us who
are still evolving." I said "Thank you. My fellows said they would do
that, because they're not stupid. Now you have some studying to do!"
He did, and we formed a plan of action. He broke the news that we
were contacted by the Confed, and being that the people on the ship had
originally come from my planet, I was selected to go back with them and
represent the three planets of the GC I was a citizen of. He used files
and videos in support of that. He said I came back in advance of the
delegation from the Confed, to tell everybody the news. Then Hissssner
and I had a news conference. We were asked the expected questions, and
gave the expected answers. It got a little awkward when I was asked
what kind of people they were. I said "The people of the Confederation
are just like people everywhere. There are many different species, and
some have minor and major characteristics which vary from other's, but
they all have the same range of intelligence, education, ethics,
morals, and respect for the law, as do the people of the GC. They feel
all the same emotions we all do, and have families, and do everything
else we do. To me, the most important thing in any people, is the
capacity to love. You have it. They have it, and I love that more than
anything else." Dead silence. So I said, "And most of them aren't as
ugly as I am." Laughter. Then I said with a grin, "One more thing. You
still have the record for the longest teeth." Laughter and applause.
That ended the news conference.
Back in his office, Hissssner said "I should have you write my
speeches." I said with a grin, "No you shouldn't." He laughed. I said
"Do your political aspirations include being President of the GC?" He
said "They did. I'm not so sure now." I said "I understand. One thing
you should know. I will likely not be available after about 16 years
from now." He said in surprise, "Health?" I said , "No. My health will
always be perfect. Why shouldn't it be, when I can manage my body down
to the atomic level? It will live as long as it should." He said "And
how long as that?" I said "I don't know. Whoever is around when it
stops, will probably know. My only wish is to see my children become
all they can be, before I have to leave them. In case you want to know,
the person who will bear them, will tell me when she's ready do do
that." He said "Rose?" I said "Why do you think it will be her?" He
said "She's with you a lot." I said "I don't play favorites on
missions, and all public appearances off our planet are missions to us.
She is often with me for training as a Situation Manager, being that
she is the only candidate still in need of that, and because she has
the best emotion sense of any of us, and that is important in working
with new people. Yes, you can feel our love for each other. But we feel
that for all of us. You also feel she has a possessive proprietary
interest in me. Part of that is because I was adopted into her clan,
and the rest is like all the other hetero uncommitted females we know,
which is not limited to just my species. Women are very attracted to
power, and they tell me I have a lot of it." He grinned and said, "How
well I know that! I receive hundreds of proposals a week. I'm divorced,
but I could choose from thousands of wives in a second." I said "And
because you can, you don't." He looked at me oddly, and said, "Yes,
you're right. I see your situation better now. When you do officially
marry, you still can't choose. Not with your kind of love." I said
"Yes. And it will be when Rose tells me. My first child must be of her
clan, and in marriage. She and I know I will be screwing everybody in
sight after that." He laughed his head almost off his dark red narrow
scaly shoulders.
