Dear Member of The Fort Community,
After the last time Fort Kittens/PCHMG and company blazed through The
Fort I decided that the chaos that ensued wasn't worth the effort. I,
and eventually others, stopped feeding the beast and they left. For a
long time they were gone forever, this was one of the longest
droughts. But they appeared again a couple of weeks ago and The Fort
Kittens playfully pinged me. The Kittens played nicely for a week or
so, but I knew it was only a matter of time before George showed up.
The usual pattern followed and the flames of VV began. Then the poor
late Y-Not was resurrected and flamed. The anti-NP Cult stuff started,
which I believe was an effort to draw me into the fray, but I declined
to follow the usual script.
Odin (et al) have as much right to be here as anyone. There is a
definite need for the Kittens, they are fun posters. Who what to do
about the angry invective spat out by some of the personalities?
The events of yesterday in Connecticut helped me reach a decision. My
BL brothers, EVERYONE hates us. We are, in most peoples minds, worse
than the kid who murdered 20 children and seven more adults in a
senseless, horrible slaughter. We are so misunderstood and demonized
that people want to kill us on sight. Some of our ilk have earned that
distinction for us because of their predation on boys and girls. Most
of us aren't like that, the vast majority of us are gentle men and
women who would have taken a bullet to protect those little kids in
Newtown yesterday.
We need to band together and help each other, not fight like drama
queens. Back in the day, when Odin was somebody else, he and I worked
together to avert a potentially nasty situation. The details are
unimportant, but the solution he helped to accomplish gave all parties
involved the chance to speak their piece and keep the peace. For my
part, I am going to love the Kittens and ignore the haters. We need
The Fort Kittens here playing and posting. It's clear they enjoy that
part of their existence. If can help George work through some demons I
will. And here's why:
If you think about it, if any of US had known Adam Lanza, who was an
apparent skinny, loner goth kid, we might have been able to help him.
I know with conviction that if he had been a young man I invested time
and love in, he would never have reached whatever point of
despair/insanity it took to drive him to his fateful decision. He
would have had someone to talk to, someone looking out for him. The
news machines tell us clearly that his Dad wasn't in his life. I wish
to God now that I had known him, because it breaks my heart to think
of all those innocents slaughtered and so many lives shattered.
Let's not tear each other apart. Let's love each other and work
together to do some good in this world and redeem our public image.
Stay Safe,
Doc NP-f31
