Stephen's Secure Blog #95
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 14 in this story, in the spring, near the end of year 4 of
his special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #95 "Police Corruptured"
START Page
I was ready and waiting for them, even before they left their
station. And so were Hawk and Rose at the school, and Ichi, who was
with Hissssner and Zander, and keeping them updated with projections,
all who would monitor. I had already done the research, and had A/V
recordings of the politician and the judge, and the police captain,
talking about the plot against me. While they were doing that, they
talked about other crimes they had committed. I researched those, to
give to Gikkal, later. While the police flyers were still in the air, I
sent an image of me to confront the judge, in his chambers. He didn't
see me arrive, just like I wanted, and then I surprised him when I
said, "Why are you sending police to my home?" He said "Who are you and
how did you get in here?" I said "I am Stephen. I am here to ask you
why are you sending police to my home." He said "I'm calling security."
I said "I suggest you don't, because you are the only one who can see
me. They will think you are insane when you ask them to remove
something they can't see." That didn't stop him, and guards came, and
he said, "Please arrest and remove this man." They looked very
confused, and asked where he is. The judge said, while pointing at me,
"He's right there! Take him away!" The guards walked all over the room,
and through my projected illusion. The judge saw that and looked really
afraid and said, "I'm sorry. There's been a mistake. You are not
needed, and may go." They left. I said to the judge, "You should have
believed me. I warned you. I don't lie." I said out loud and deep in
his mind and brain, "You will always tell the truth to me." I asked him
why he was sending the police to me, and he told me everything,
including the name of the politician, and all the credit transactions
which were involved. I said to him, "All this is being recorded. I
haven't decided if I'm going to make this public. In any event, I
suggest you resign immediately, and never try to work in government
again. You will regret it if you don't. I will not let you abuse the
power of public office again. I will stay right here with you until the
pending police action against me is resolved."
While I was running the illusion in the judge's office, I was
visiting, via illusion, the antagonistic politician, and doing the same
thing. After the same kind of resistance, he told me everything, and I
gave him the same warning, and I stayed with him, too. I was outside my
house when the police fliers arrived. The police Captain was in the
lead, and came up to me and said, "Are you Stephen?" I said "I am. Do
you have a warrant which allows you to be on my property?" He said "I
do." I said "Then please deliver it to me." He reached into his case he
had with him, and then looked hard in it, and then emptied the whole
thing onto the driveway, and sifted through it. Then he looked at me
and said, "I had it, but it seems to be misplaced. We will execute it
anyway, and search you and your home." I said "You will be violating
the law if you do that. You have not delivered the warrant to me." He
said "WE are the law! The warrant was issued, and will be either found
or replaced. We will proceed as if we had it here." I said "Then please
tell me what is in the warrant that is what you are looking for." He
said "Illegal drugs." I said "Oh? What kind?" He looked confused,
because that wasn't specified on the warrant. He said "Any kind." I
said "That sounds strange to me. Does this happen a lot, the police
invade private property without a warrant in hand, looking for
unspecified things?" He said "Yes." I said "And what probable cause was
used to obtain the warrant?" He said "I don't know." I said "Is that
normal for the the police not to know why they decide to violate their
own laws?" He was frustrated and didn't know what to say to that, and
instead said, "Please be still while you are being searched." I said "I
will not permit anybody to touch me, which would constitute an assault.
You have drug detecting equipment here. That may be used near me to
inform you whether or not I posses any illegal drugs on my person, in
accordance with what you have said is on the warrant which isn't here."
He said "We will do that."
He backed away, and the detector was brought near me, and it did not
find any drugs. He had backed away, because if the machine had been
accidentally pointed in his direction, it would have indicated a
positive response. I said to the captain, "To be sure it's working
properly, perhaps you should be examined as well." He looked very
uneasy at that and said, "That will not be necessary!" I grinned, and
that made him even more uneasy. The officer who was handling the
detector suspected what was going on, and didn't like it one bit. Also,
he knew I knew, and was very curious about that. I gave him a native
hand signal which only he could see, which said I had it under control.
He gave me a small smile only I could see, to indicate he would go
along with what I had planned.
I said to the captain, "I will allow you and your detection officer
to enter my home now, while we wait for the warrant to arrive." He said
"We will enter." I led the way, and he motioned to all his police
officers to follow. I went through the door. Then the captain, and then
the other officer. The others couldn't get past the force screen, and
because the whole house was protected that way, they couldn't break in
anywhere, even with a fusion bomb. The captain didn't notice his absent
men, until after he was comfortably seated. Then he did, but didn't
know what to make of it, and decided to wait a little before doing
anything about it. He didn't know that from the moment he entered my
house, I was projecting an image of the room he was in, on the outside
wall of my house, with audio, so his men could see and hear what was
happening. I offered them something to drink, and went to the kitchen
to get what the captain asked for. While I was doing that, the captain
reached into his pouch, and took out a little plastic bag of drugs, and
pushed it into the seat cushion next to him, in a way the other officer
couldn't see. But he did see it in the image I was projecting behind
the captain, from an overhead view which showed it all very clearly. He
showed good control in not giving that away. The officers outside, saw
it in a projection, too. Some expected it, and some were shocked. I
captured those reactions, for action on later.
I came back with the drink, and the captain put it on the table next
to him and said, "We will begin the search now." He motioned to the
other officer to use the detector around the room. As we all expected,
it showed a positive indication at the chair he had been occupying.
Then he said, "Here is the evidence that we are looking for. I'm
placing you under arrest." I said "Before you go any further, you
should know all this is being recorded, and has been since before you
landed, and is being fed live to many people. The only drug of any kind
which has ever been in this house, is what you brought into it
yourself. Here is evidence of that." I projected for him what we had
all seen. He drew his gun and tried to shoot me, but I was in speed
mode, and was beside him before he could fire, and took his gun away. I
gave it to the other officer. I said "That was also recorded. Foolish
of you." I said to the air, "Mr. President, would you kindly send
somebody with authority here, to take this officer into custody?" In
the air, transmitted by Ichi, Hissssner said, "Hissssner here. Already
done. She should be there in a minute. Good work, Stephen." Then then
there was a click, to indicate he was not on the comm anymore.
I said to both officers, "Now we wait. There is still that healthy
drink just sitting there unloved. Who's going to get to it first? Oh,
don't worry, the captain isn't going to be able to do anything bad
now." The other officer grinned and took it, and said, "It's very good.
Thanks. This has been a very er, interesting experience." I grinned and
said, "For the officers outside as well. They were watching projections
of this, too, and still are. Oh, and their reactions were also
captured. Some obviously knew what the captain planned, and had helped
him do similar things in the past, for which they were well paid. Those
actions and transactions are also on the memory cards I will be giving
as evidence. It's a good thing the new force has landed, because those
officers were about to compound their crimes. One thing I am grateful
for, is that you are clean all the way. We have not met before this,
but I am glad we have now. Thank you." He said "I am honored."
I let the door open for the Inspector Magistrate, and explained what
had happened, and showed her some projections, and gave her the memory
cards I had just made. She ordered the captain to be arrested. I said
"Before you go, there is something I would like to ask your opinion
about. A number of people have seen all this unfold in real time, but
they won't tell the press about it if I ask them not to, although
Hissssner might have a stroke about that." She laughed. I said "Should
the press be informed now, or after the court actions make it all
public, or should all of us be quiet about it? What would be best for,
not the police or the government, but for the society?" She was
conflicted, and said, "The way you worded the question uncomfortably
forces me to say; our society would benefit by knowing that we would
not conceal our transgressions from them, and we value a free press as
being essential to our existence." I said "Thank you. I don't like this
kind of publicity myself, but my responsibility as a good citizen takes
precedence over my personal feelings. If I'm asked about it, may I
quote your statement, starting with 'our society'?" She looked
surprised, and said, "You may." I said "Thank you. I think others
should be allowed to benefit from your wisdom." We bowed to each other,
and she left feeling better about herself. The tech she sent to clean
up my chair, did a good job, and I thanked him before he left.
After they were all gone, I ended my personal projections to the
judge and the politician. Then I sent a projection of me to Hissssner's
office, where Ichi and Zander were. I said to them, "Thank you all for
your support. I'm going to call Gikkal now, to tell him what happened,
and ask his advice about how to break the news. Want to listen?" They
both did, so I used my wrist comp to place the call. I let them hear
what I said, but not what he said. I said, after he answered the call,
"It happened, just like I said it would. It's all on record, and real
arrests were made. It has been decided to let it all become public
knowledge. Who should I give all the information to? Ouch! You should
know, I have sensitive hearing. Apology accepted. How would you like to
receive the info? Well, you know I have a way with computers and memory
please use the Inspector Magistrate's quote I enclosed, after I asked
if I should make what happened public. She was very professional and
gracious, and I would like to see that rewarded. Yes, bad news should
always be tempered with good, wherever it can be done honestly, for the
good of society. Thank you. Have an exciting day."
Hissssner said, "Speaking about exciting, your presence here. How you
arrived. You can do that to the Van ships, I assume." I said "Sure. But
later. Have a nice day. I don't need this projection anymore, so..." I
removed all of me but my grin from the projection, and then made that
the last to vanish, to his almost hysterical laughter.
