Stephen's Secure Blog #11
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's 2018 and
later, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 12 in this story, in March of year 2 of his special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #11 "Ichi Talks to Bed"
START Page
When I woke up in the morning before Ichi, I had a conversation with
my stone. I said "Hello. Is it a requirement that I start the
conversation, or can you start it on your own?" He said "When we are
alone, you must start it." I said "That's too bad! Well, do you have
any comments for me?" He said "No. We are more observers, than
instigators or active participants." I said "Does that you mean you
haven't decided what to do with your people who are in the Van
stations, and on their home planet?" He said "That is correct." I said
with humor, "You have one aspect to you that I lack. Procrastination."
He said with humor, "We can't all have everything." I said "Do you
think the people in the bed would like to talk with Ichi and his stone?
I am making him my understudy, so to speak, and would like him to know
you are people. Nice people he would like to know." He said "They would
like that. Yes." I said, "Good. We might do it this morning. After I
finish training Zander, I will remove the rest of the Van in this
system, and put them in storage. I would like to make use of their
stations, mostly because I wouldn't like to waste them, after
modifications. Do you think your people in them would dislike that? I
can leave them there, or transport them anywhere they would like to
go." He said "I don't know. Doing nothing might be better than
something. They can always make other decisions later." I said
"Alright. Is there any way you can signal me if you want me to contact
you, and if not, how often do you want me to do that? He said "No way,
and no set interval. Whenever you want to, is what I want." I said
"Agreeable, I see. Well, we'll get ready to visit with the bed.
Goodbye."
When Ichi woke up, we did the usual squirting. Then I said, "I am
going to tell you something a little unusual." He said "No problem.
With you, it's the usual which concerns me." I laughed and said, "Me
too. Alright, here it is. The stones are alive and intelligent, and we
are going to go to where there are more of them together so you can
talk to them." He said "Right about the unusual." I told him about the
bed, and gave him my memories of my time in the station. I smothered
his wow with a kiss, and I could feel him giggling. We cleaned up and
had breakfast, and I ported us to the insulated bedroom in my Temple
apartment. I laid on the bed first, so my stone could tell the others
about the new stone wearer. Then I got off, and Ichi got on. All kinds
of interesting expressions moved all over his face for ten minutes, and
then he got off the bed and said, "Double Wow!" I said, "All I did was
introduce you. If there is anything you would like to share, I'm
available." He said "They said you already know what they told me." I
said "Well, I was hoping for one of the unusual." We grinned. I said
"There is something about them I have a problem with. They won't decide
what they want to do and where they want to do it, after I take them
from the Van. They like the idea of being away from the Van, but that's
all I've gotten from them." He said "I don't have anything to add to
that. If they don't decide, you will have to do it for them." I said
"WE will." He didn't mind that at all.
Ichi said, "I just had a thought. You actually are the boss of the
whole Enterprise, aren't you." I said "That's hard to pin down.
Legally, I'm a minor, and can't exercise my right to vote my majority
share of the stock which I inherited from my previous incarnation, but
Tomba can, as the trustee of my former estate. I'm not an officer of
the company or school, so I have no other legal power to enforce my
decisions. But, you're right. What I want, happens, because either I
make it happen, or the people who do it for me, want to, because it's
the right thing to do. That's what happened the last time I was 12 and
took over the school. I didn't make many changes, but what I wanted to
happen, did, and there weren't any complaints. That annoyed me,
actually. I wanted SOME debate, and when I said that, they mostly
laughed." He said "I know what you mean. I see how people are with you.
And watching you in action is exciting fun. Nicest way to learn, too."
I said "Well, I'm glad of that. See if Zander is ready?" He said
"Already ported him food. He's ready now and expecting." We ported to
his door and he told us to enter. We did. I said "Can you move the big
one yet?" He grinned and said, "Come and see." We did, and he moved it.
I said "That's great. Now try something different. You have pushed. Now
try to hit it. Like you are punching, but with your energy, in an
explosive pulse. Begin." The big crystal ball jumped off the sand bed
and smashed into the concrete wall behind it and exploded into little
pieces. I contained the debris behind a 4th shield. He looked at it in
shock, and then at me and said, "Wow!" in English. Ichi and I laughed.
Zander said "The shield. You?" I said "Yes." He said "Fast reaction."
I bowed. I said "We might be covering that topic today, with the mind
training." I felt his interest. I removed the debris. I ported a new
8cm crystal ball to my hand and said, "Watch the energy flow." I pushed
energy up from my palm, under the ball and made it float in the air
over it. Then I moved my hand sideways, and the ball stayed over my
hand. Then I let it come down and said, "I balanced it on my force. The
most difficult part of that is when it moves." While I was doing that,
I had contacted Ichi and asked him if he thought he could do it, and he
said he didn't think so. So I told Zander, "It's just something you can
try as an advanced technique." I put it on his bed. Then I made a ball
of light the same size as the ball over my hand and said, "Once you
learn how, this is much easier. This is a little more difficult." Then
I made more, and moved them all over the room. I said "We'll start on
this later. Before object sense exercise, do you have any questions or
answers about other things?"
Zander said "You should not." I said "Is this what you feel,
yourself?" He said, "Yes." I said "Why?" He said "I knew you were going
to ask me that, and hoped you wouldn't. My answer to that is while it
will be VERY useful, it will also cause frustration and disruption. If
they know who it came from, you would suffer for it." I said "How do
you feel about me asking you the original question?" He grinned and
said, "Unhappy, irritated, and annoyed." I said "Well, Ichi, you were
right, but he hasn't struck me yet." Zander laughed, and said, "I was
tempted, but reconsidered after remembering how well you can fight." We
bowed to each other. Then he and Ichi did object sense exercises and
then resistance training. Then I said, "For this, we need to go to a
different place. We will use hanger 1. I'm sorry it isn't as warm there
as you would like, but we shouldn't be there very long. Ready?" They
were, and I ported us there. There was room in the hanger, even though
the space ship was there. Zander asked about it and said, "What is it's
range?" I said "It can port itself. Anywhere a Senior Adept directs."
He said "That would be very useful!" I said "Unfortunately, we wouldn't
want to use that feature in view of other people." He nodded. I ported
two big candles, a meter tall, to sit on the floor. I waved my hand and
lit one. Then I took its energy and it went out. I said "The crystal
had instructions on how to do that, under energy transformation.
Convert some energy to heat vibrations, which we call infrared
radiation, when I say, and send it in a very small stream aimed and
focused on the candle wick. Be very careful. The first time I succeeded
in doing that, I burnt the wall behind it, and made a smoky smelly mess
which the whole school noticed. I hung one of my paintings over the
mark of the burnt paint, to conceal it. Control is very important in
all things psionic." He and Ichi grinned. It took him an hour to
finally be able to do it, and a lot less time to take it's energy to
put it out. Then we did lunch. I asked Ichi to connect, and contacted
Pete. I said +I need another adept to help Zander learn to manage
multiple contacts. Madia wants to meet him, and he hasn't met a female
adept yet. What do you think?+ He said +Just that?+ I said +Yes.+ He
said +I'll watch. It might be interesting. I'll send her to where you
are now.+ I said +Thanks. Dscom.+
I said to Ichi, "One of the ways I get people to do what I want, is
to ask them in a way which is acceptable to them. Functionally, I could
have done this without asking, but it makes no sense to ignore
authority and the chain of command when you don't have to. Why cause
bad feelings unnecessarily? Not only because it would impede your
future actions, it just isn't nice." He nodded. Madia came to our table
and sat with us. I explained what we would be doing, and told her it
was going to be hot, so she wouldn't be there long. She agreed, but was
still very excited. When everything was ready, we ported to Zander's
door and he told us to enter. I introduced them to each other, and
Madia behaved a lot better than her excitement should have allowed. I
was proud of her. She and Ichi practiced multiple contact management
with Zander. His reaction to her was difficult to define, but it WAS a
distinct reaction. When the exercise was over, I asked Zander what he
thought of Madia. He bowed to her and said, "The feel of her emotions
is different from the two of you, besides the excitement of meeting
such a strange guest. I find them pleasant. There is no fear, and I
respect that." He said to Madia, "Thank you for visiting me." She said
"You're welcome. I like you." I said "Madia, thank you for your help."
She knew that was a dismissal. We all got up and bowed to each other,
and she said her farewells, and ported out. Zander said "She was
suffering from the heat. Why?" I said "She hasn't yet been instructed
in the use of the device which would help with that. It takes some time
and effort to learn its use safely, and a lot of supervision. We have
more students than teachers, so it will be a little while before she is
introduced to it." He was about to say something I didn't want him to,
so I telepathed on his band, +No more about what I can do or invent in
front of Ichi. I don't want to encourage any negative feelings in him.+
He returned with, +Acknowledged.+ Ichi said in contact, +I caught
that.+ I said +But he doesn't know that. Good way to get him to stop
asking questions I don't want to answer about what I do.+ He said
+Right. Good idea. Discom.+
I ported an incandescent lightbulb into the room, and onto a table. I
said "More energy transformation and control. Try to project an
electric current into it, so it will light up. Try not to make it
explode." Zander took a while, almost did make it explode. I said "Now
make the light intensity vary." He did. I said "Now, rapidly." He did.
I said "Now set in your mind a sequence of pulses, describing an
ascending sequence of base ten prime numbers, starting at 2. Make that
sequence real. Attach it to your energy pulse and let it run. Now!" He
did it. I let it go for 10 seconds and said, "Stop!" He did, and stared
at me in amazement. Ichi and I grinned. I said "Tell me." He said very
excitedly, "This means direct control of electrical devices!" I said "A
small beginning, yes. More?" He said "I can build a command set in my
mind, and use it like a computer program to run independently." I said
"Correct. And now you know in a basic way, how I built the disguise,
and the ring. I have multiple compartments in my mind which can work
independently of each other, which contain many complicated instruction
sets, including complete manufacturing specifications of complicated
products. Yes, we think it's amazing, too." He was too excited to
laugh, so he just grinned with us.
I said "Now we are going to leave you for the day. You have a lot to
think about, and many things to practice, and you can do that better
without us distracting you. Here are some more lightbulbs, just in
case. See you in the morning." We stood and bowed to each other, and
Ichi and I ported to our bedroom. We contacted Pete and asked him what
he though of Madia's visit. He said +Inconclusive, but mildly
interesting. She did well. Much more interesting are your teaching
methods. They are better and more effective than the way we learned as
kids, and better than we are using now.+ I said +Some of them I'm
learning as I go along. I like it that we can learn together.+ He said
+So do I.+ I said +Thanks. Discom.+ Ichi said, "You really are his
leader. And he loves you." I said "Yes. It happens when you give love.
You get it back even more." We hugged and kissed, proving what I had
just said, with each other.
