The Adventures of Stevie #90
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 12 in this story, in year 3 of his special school, after
Thanksgiving, and before the winter holiday break.
The Adventures of Stevie #90 "Called On the Carpet"
Dear Carlos,
Friday afternoon Rod and I took the bus from school to the Temple to
see Shan. We left right after lunch. Rod would be coming back home with
me after, and staying the night. We had permission from our parents. We
told them it was a school matter, so they would drive Davie to my house
after he got out of school, so we could all be together. We brought the
platform to the Temple. Shan noticed it right away, and gave us a BIG
smile. He was VERY happy. But first I introduced him to Rod, and we had
polite tea.
I said to Shan "Rod has seen me do some very strange things. He is a
student at my special school, and we are like brothers. I'm not hiding
anything from him, but I haven't told him everything because there
aren't words, so he might get a little confused here. I will help him
with that when we get home. Did you know what I wanted the special
glass and gems for?" Shan said "Not at all, but I expected something
interesting would come of it. I understand it has?" I said "That's up
to you to decide, after we demonstrate it." Rod got on the platform and
I made it lift and move around. He got off and sat with me again. Shan
said with a REALLY big smile, "Imagine a platform like that, but of
cloth woven with silver and gold threads among the silk, with a special
arrangement of very small gems embedded in it, just as you have done
and covered with plastic. Now imagine it on the floor, with people
walking on it, and not noticing anything special about it, until its
owner flies away on it." Rod yelled "It's a Magic Carpet!"
I said, disappointedly "Oh, so I didn't invent it?" Rod hugged me.
Shan said "Oh, but you did. The art was lost until now, and what you
have done is very different. The original required a constant feeding
of energy from the operator, and could only be operated while in
physical contact. Your most significant invention is the psychic
storage system and remote control. I congratulate you!" I said "Thank
you, but I don't really have a use for it. I have never been on it, and
might never. I get sick in moving cars and airplanes. I don't want to
lose any meals on this thing." Shan said "Have you thought of doing the
same as it does, but just with yourself, and not a constructed
instrument?" Then, while in still in his lotus position, he rose up in
the air about a foot. Then after about 10 seconds he came down. Rod and
I still had our mouths open, NOT looking like geniuses.
I said "Which Chakra?" He said "The Base." I said "So it works only
when seated." He said "They way I do it, yes." I said "Others here?" He
said "2, but only for about 3 seconds." I said "That's because you are
fighting gravity, and that takes a whole lot of energy. There is a
vibration that deflects gravity like magnets deflect an electron beam,
by changing a property of the affected mass. Do it that way, and it
takes very little energy, except when you move." I told him what I had
done with the stuff he gave me. I tried to explain how it works, but
higher math and physics weren't his specialties. I said "I would like
to do some experiments with the platform. They won't be dangerous.
Would you help?" He said "Yes." I said "Please try to direct it with
your mind now." He did, and it moved. So it didn't care who made and
charged it. I said "Can you try it with you standing on it?" He did and
it worked. I said "Rod, can you direct it with your thoughts now?" He
tried, but couldn't. I told him to get on it and try, and it worked! I
said "Now Rod, try it again with you off of it about 10 feet away." He
couldn't. "Now take one step and try again, and again, until it moves."
He did, and it moved when he was one step away from it. I asked Shan
"Is this anything like the old flying carpets?" Shan said "I wish I
could tell you, but we have only legends, not scientific descriptions
of their use, but I think this is different. Very interesting." Rod
said "I'll say!" We laughed.
Then I thought. I have to tell you what that really means. Almost
always it doesn't take me any time to think, because I do it so fast.
Taking time to think means a whole lot because of that, like I did at
school I told you about in the last letter. I had designed and made a
kind of physical chakra which wasn't inside a human body. Could I make
a nonphysical chakra exist outside the body just like it? And if I
could do that, could I do the same with the energy converting nodes in
the platform the same way? I don't know how to describe it, but while I
was thinking all that, part of me was actually doing it. Then I lifted
my lotus position up in the air, and stayed there for minutes while I
talked some more.
"If you do it like this, it takes almost no energy to keep in one
place, and only the same energy you would use for moving your body, to
move in the air. You don't even need an extra chakra for this." I told
Shan what I had done. He tried it, but couldn't. I said "Don't worry. I
have been thinking about this much longer. It will come to you. I'll
help some more on my next visit. I have another problem which I think I
might have partially solved just now, which I need your help with. Can
we discuss it?" Shan said "Yes, please." I said "I have been thinking a
lot about what you told me about vibrations, and with frequencies and
waves I had to do with the platform experiment. Energy doesn't move
efficiently. For example, light beams spread, no matter how you focus
them, even in vacuum. I have managed to synchronize energy waves into a
VERY narrow frequency, by bouncing a pulse of them between tuned
reflecting chakras, until they become so concentrated and intense they
burst through the weaker chakra and strike the target, and actually
burn a whole in it, even right through 6 inches of solid steel. The
problem is, it comes from an internal chakra, and comes out of my body,
my hand usually, burning right through the skin." I showed him the
little scars on both my palms. "I would like to not have to scream to
use this weapon. Any suggestions?"
While Shan was thinking, I explained to Rod why I needed it. About
possible energy eaters I might have to face. Rod was shocked,
naturally. Shan said "I see the problem. You almost solved it with an
external chakra, but your enemy might be able to interfere with or take
them over. I don't see a solution at the moment. I will confer with my
colleagues. This may take some time, as most of them are not with us
here." I said "That's fine. Thank you very much." Shan bowed low and
said "No, thank YOU, my Master." I lifted hum up and hugged him, and
cried. I said "NO! I am your friend and student, and like a loving son.
PLEASE!" He said "I understand, Stephen, my very good friend. We will
learn together." After a lot of bowing and goodbyes, Ron and I left,
with the platform.
We were quiet on the bus, except for the occasional whispered "Wow!"
which came from Rod. Then the professor got on the bus. I said "Hello
professor! Remember me?" He said "Hello! Yes I certainly DO! But I
don't know your name." I said "I'm Stephen, and this is my friend and
classmate Rod." He introduced himself, and explained to Rod we had an
interesting discussion the last time he and I were on the bus together.
He said "I heard about the incident on the bus. You handled it well.
Thank you." He could see Rod didn't know, so he told him. Rod hugged me
and said, "Yes, he's a real hero, for that and lots of other things." I
kicked his shoe. He just grinned. We didn't have much time for a real
discussion, because we had to get off, but I did give him my phone
number, in case he wanted to call, but only for important things.
We went inside and undressed. Then Davie came bouncing in. So did
Dan, who had been outside doing chores. All 4 of us hugged and kissed,
and went to help with supper. While we were eating, I had an idea, and
I insulated the chakra I had made under my stone on the inside of my
wrist, but with a very small slightly weak spot in the outer container,
directly under the stone. Then I strengthened some minor chakras in my
feet, and modified them, and the ones in my hands, with some immaterial
energy bending nodes like those in the platform. When I finished and
looked around, I saw everybody was looking at me strangely. I asked
"What's the matter?" Glena said "Thinking again? Check the time." I
said "I'm sorry! I didn't realize. I'm really sorry." Glena said "I
know you can't help it, so don't worry about it. If you get one of your
brilliant ideas, you should run with it, if you are in a safe situation
like here at home." I turned red. Dan and Davie, on either side, gave
me a hug. We finished eating. I asked the kids to leave me alone with
Zack and Glena for a few minutes for a private talk. They did, and I
brought the platform from my room. Rod was trying to hide a grin.
I told them "This is the reason I was late at school that time. I
thought all the way through inventing and designing this. Then later I
built it from parts I asked Shan to get for me." I showed them the
platform. "You know about crystals, so this should interest you. Inside
the plastic covers is a special arrangement of them, that does
something special when charged with psychic power." I stepped onto it
and made it rise and float in the air. "Shan told me it's like the old
flying carpets, which nobody knows how to make anymore, but much
better. Would you like to try it? It's perfectly safe. It won't tilt if
I don't tell it to." They did, and marveled at it. Then I said "It's
practically useless. It needs my psychic energy to make it work, and it
takes less energy to walk or run. It's just an experiment, and Shan was
very happy with it." They thanked me for the demonstration, and then
suggested I join the boys before they came and kidnapped me. I grinned
and did just that.
I went into my room, and announced, "I learned some magic tricks.
It's what I was thinking about at supper. Would you all like a show?"
There were lots of yeses. I said "Davie, you won't see much with your
eyes bouncing like that. In your face, on your head, on your jumping
bean body. Try sitting down." He did. On the floor. Hard. With a big
fart. Everybody laughed. I said "I think you should sit on something
more convenient." I held the platform out and told it to stay there at
chair seat hight, and said "Abracadab-barbra!" at it, and let go. "Have
a seat Davie." He stared at it like it was magic. That was a joke, but
it was true. He sat on it. I said "Would you like it to be a little
higher?" He nodded. I made it rise some more. I said "Maybe it would be
better over there?" He nodded, and I moved it over Dan's bed. Then I
tilted it suddenly and made him fall off onto the bed. Davie laughed. I
said "Oh, look, Dan's got company!" Dan sat next to him and said, "Yes,
and what good company he is!" Then he tickled him. Then Rod and I piled
on the bed and tickled him too. Davie loved it. So did his monster.
Then we were all tickling each others' nuts and having a lot of fun.
Then I yelled, "I wasn't finished!" Somebody threw a pillow at my face.
Then we wrestled all over the floor. Eventually we made each other
squirt.
After we cleaned up, while we were resting, I saw Dan about to ask me
how I did the trick. I shook my head slightly. He didn't ask, but Davie
did. I said "Sorry, magicians don't give away their secrets," and
ruffled his hair. He grinned and leaned his head against me and hugged.
We stayed that way, hugging each other on the floor, and talked about
usual boy things. Rod said, if we wanted to, we could go to his Church
with his family Sunday morning. Rod and I knew Dan had a bad time with
his former religion, so we weren't sure how he would take to the
invitation. I wished Rod didn't ask him, but it was too late to stop
it. When Dan asked, Rod told him it was Catholic. Dan asked me if I had
gone, and what it was like. I said "Truthfully?" He nodded. I said "To
outsiders, it's mostly boring ceremonies. But very interesting if you
watch the people, how they move, their expressions, where they look.
For somebody like me, who does that, it's interesting. And sometimes
funny. But they might not want me back." Dan sat up straighter and
said, "Oh oh, what did you do?" Rod had a big ear to ear grin on his
face. Davie was looking back and forth at us like we were playing ping
pong. I gave Dan my not now look, and poked Davie, and said, "Who wants
some chocolate cake?" Strangely, we all did. We had some.
We got ready for bed. I took Dan in the shower with me. There was
only room for 2 at a time. I told him Rod would tell him about what
happened at the church while they were in bed together, because Davie
wasn't to know. That meant Davie would sleep with me. That's what
happened. After we helped our bed partners squirt. Then we went to
sleep in each others' arms, like all loving brothers should do.
Your friend,
Stephen
