Hey Rikard!
Thanks for your post. You are of the same mind as Victor and the
others. You see the world as it *should* be, not how it is. If
everyone saw the world in the same way, what a different world we
would live in.
Another thought I've had is that a greater part of society would
sympathize with the boy and the nurse and see the act as Grant did,
more of a heroic gesture. And yet if a male nurse were performing the
same function, it would be seen as even more heinous by the greater
population. I had a discussion with my wife about it. She was not so
judgemental as the position I took, but she acknowledged that there is
a clear doublestandard between the way a man and woman would be
treated by society in a case like this.
The second thing that struck me about this particular nurse was that
she had done it at least one other time. AND clearly several of her
associates had done the same thing. I definitely agree with VV that
the act was likely palliative for the lad and was the source of some
pleasure in an otherwise horrific existence.
I am thrilled by the responses so far.
