It's funny you should mention Greeks for only this week I've been doing a
bit of research and it would seem that the Ancient Greeks had developed
computers and even an archaic form of bulletin boards which they used to
swap pictures. Probably pictures of statues and the like. "Here's a
little hottie I found etched on a wall at the Parthenon last week" sort
of thing. Anyway, it would seem that their complete network was destroyed
by a virus embedded in once such picture, and the technology was lost
until now. There are a few obscure references to the matter, the most
well-known of which, and now usually mis-quoted, is "beware Greeks
bearing .gifs".
