Lust - 1. sexual desire often to an intense or unrestrained degree
2. an intense longing
Sexual desire for what?
Do you lust after children? Do you lust after a boy? A girl? Do you
lust after a man or woman? What is your motive in your sexual desire?
A sexual drive can be very powerful driver on lust. If gone
unrestrained, you can have improper motives for your sexual desire. If
gone unrestrained, it can prove disaster to the soul and spirit.
What does the Bible/God's true Word say about lust?
Proverbs 6:25
Do not lust in your heart after his/her beauty or let his/her
captivate you with his/her eyes.
The Proverbs passage is referring to prostitutes with adultery in
mind. This breaks the seventh commandment: Do not commit adultery; if
the lust goes unrestrained.
Ezekiel 20:30
"Therefore say to the house of Israel: 'This is what the Sovereign
Lord says: Will you defile yourselves the way your fathers did and
lust after their vile images?
The Ezekiel passage is referring to idolatry. The second commandment
states: Thou shall not make for yourselves a graven image or carved
image of God.
Colossians 3:5-6
(5) Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:
sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is
idolatry. (6) Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
This gives us a better perspective of the definition of lust from the
Word of God. Put to death the lust that is of your motives, desires,
and passions. Lust is an earthly nature, not a heavenly or spiritual
nature. Again, it is breaking the second commandment of God that
there should be no idolatry or making for yourself a graven/carved
image of God.
With the lust that is in your heart, you will also worship the
graven/carved image of God.
This graven/carved image is the penis, vagina, breasts of the body. In
essence, you worship the body members to a degree as to renounce the
glory of God and not honoring a proper perspective worship on God to
an understanding of What God is perceived to be. In your lust, you
might consider God to be the human member of the body to be
worshipped. But God is the force, energy, power, and light of the
universe. This does not bode well to put your spirit in a proper
perspective of God in what is God is made to be perceived to be if you
lust after a body member. Is God a sexual organ?
What do you lust after? The penis, the vagina, the breasts? With your
eyes perceiving, you tend to drive your sexual desire to sin because
it is evil, wicked, corrupt, and perverse to perceive with the eyes
and drive your body to a compulsive nature and break the spiritual
channel between God and man.
If you are not perceiving your eyes in a proper perspective, such as
loving with passion after your significant other, than adultery and
idolatry has been committed in the mind. You are sinning. You are
rebelling God and rebuking the true meaning of passionate love.
I Thessalonians 4:4-5
(4) that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way
that is holy and honorable, (5) not in passionate lust like the
heathen, who do not know God;
Self-control of the body, mind, and heart is the essence to denounce
lust. Denounce lust and your soul and spirit strengthen in a realm of
holiness with God.
1 Peter 4:1-3
(1) Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also
with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is
done with sin. (2) As a result, he does not live the rest of his
earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
(3) For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans
choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies,
carousing and detestable idolatry.
Suffering in the body is the essence of the spirit. Yes, you will
suffer when you put to death the lust of your body, mind, and heart.
But to suffer like Christ will bring rewards in the end upon judgment.
1 John 2:16
For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of
his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the
Father but from the world.
Lust is therefore from Satan the devil. It is of the world. Lust
reinforces the motives of the flesh and not of the spirit.
I urge you to put to death lust. Turn to Jesus Christ and plant in
your mind how He suffered before hanging on the cross. Christ suffered
beatings and mutilation before being hung on the cross. That is what
the "Passion of Christ", the movie is all about. The wrath of God was
upon Jesus Christ before He hung on the cross and when He hung on the
cross. The wrath of God was upon Jesus Christ because Jesus Christ was
exposed to sin and made to be sin. God cannot look on sin because God
is holy. Jesus Christ was alone when He was beaten and mutilated and
then was alone when He hung on the cross, died, and was buried in the
tomb.
Jesus Christ died for the sins of lust. But He rose on the third day
and was glorified because He conquered sin and death. He ascended into
heaven and is at the right hand of God ministering in His Holy
Sancturary this day.
I urge you to denounce your lust. How?
Do a searching and fearless moral inventory of your lust.
Admit to God, to yourself, and another human being the exact nature of
your wrongs.
