That may appear to be correct but you have to take into account the
quality. Files such as wmv, avi, rm are compressed, hence you need a codec
(COmpressor/DECompressor). This means smaller files for better quality OR
smaller files for longer movies or the same size files for better
definition. In the example you quote, 500MB for 15-20 minutes, you should
be getting much better quality than in an uncompressed movie. With the
advent of DivX, you are getting an even better ratio; close to mpeg2/4 for
a relatively small file size. As broadband proliferates and dvd becomes the
standard, file sizes for new movies will increase because people will
become used to very high quality. Think of the difference between VHS and
8mm films!
