"eMule" is a peer to peer (P2P) file sharing system, that operates
through the internet, similar to the original Napster and Limewire. It
has nothing to do with the newsgroups. While it isn't as bad as the
other P2Ps, I don't consider it to be as safe to use as Usenet. Too
often the programs that are used for these systems contain spyware, and
it's possible for downloads and uploads to be traced.
