I finally was able to try this new flavor. It's not too bad. Far
better
than "Red Fusion", IMHO. About the only "Dr Pepper"-ness I get
out of it is the pleasing mouthfeel, that I credit to the phosphoric
acid base (which Dr Pepper has in common with the cola drinks).
Other than that, it seems to be mainly a raspberry cream soda. I'm not
sure what the competition is like in this area....
Oh, and the label says it just has HFCS (no other sugar). I believe
that
in most parts of the US, you get a mixture of both HFCS and sucrose
in the basic "Dr Pepper". I even see that in some of the Dr Pepper
clones. So, I bet they discovered at some point that the sucrose
really enhanced the taste. (I know it seems that way to *me*, based
on the 100% pure-cane sugar Dublin TX variety, for instance.)
