Check my copies of Clock Dial, and here is what I found out. Pommac was a
Swedish drink, and imported and distributed by Dr. Pepper. It was first
introduced in theU.S. in July 1964. It was available in 10 oz returnable
bottles and 12 oz. cans based on the photos in the magazine.
Representatives from Sweden were in the U.S. during late 65 to discuss wider
distribution (Canada and Mexico). While I could not find a flavour for
Pommac, a quote stated the drink was the only soft drink to be aged in oak
barrells, and gave the drink a geniune bouquet unlike any other soft drink.
That makes me think some type of fruit flavor. The Swedish executives
stated that Pommac was registered for sale in 42 countries, and applied for
sales in 31 others. That doesn't mean the drink was actually sold in all
those countries, but at least more than Sweden and USA.
There were newspaper and magazine ads, radio and TV ads, billboards, and in
store sampling. There is a gap in which issues of Clock Dial magazine in my
files that skips 1966-1970. In the September 1970 issue, the first after
the gap, there is no mention of Pommac whatsoever.
