The KApro EXs97 "Obey X-Dreams" Library offers a sound set of
for the KORG KRONOS.
In the second half of the 1970s, polyphonic analog synthesizers began to conquer the modern
music. In order to prepare these Bolides for on stage use, they had to be compact, i.e, "in one
single piece", and, above all, they had to be programmable. It is therefore not surprising that first
tentative steps towards programming had already been made with a large legendary Japanese
device that entered the market in 1976. However, processor-based sound programmability could
not be found before 1978: In 1978 and 1979, two different polyphonic analog and processorbased
programmable synthesizer models were introduced by two American competitors. The
1978 model obviously inspired the design of the AL-1 engine of the KORG KRONOS, as we can
find references to "a classic five-voice analog synthesizer" or "a famous five-Voice American
the brand new KApro EXs97 "Obey X-Dreams" Library to the 1979 model and its successors,
which were produced until 1988. Especially, KApro captured legendary brass sounds, which are
powerful, bold and at the same time crystal clear, in stereo samples. Of course, basses, leads
and pads are not forgotten.
