Donald Jeffries has been researching the JFK assassination since the mid-1970s,
when he was a teenage volunteer for Mark Lane's Citizens Committee of Inquiry.
He is very active on all the JFK assassination forums, and has been a moderator
on the London Spartacus Education Forum for several years. In the first half, he
joined guest host Richard Syrett to discuss his research into the assassination
and the imminent release of related government files.
The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 was
designed to release all remaining documents relevant to the case, yet 25 years
later the thousands of documents still have not been released, Jeffries
explained. "Why is anything being withheld on an event that we were told
constantly was perpetrated solely by [Lee Harvey Oswald] who had no other
contacts," he said. There likely will not be a smoking gun in the docs as they
are heavily redacted and the conspirators probably did not put their plan on
paper, Jeffries added.
Newly release files indicate Earle Cabell, mayor of Dallas during the JFK
assassination, was CIA asset, Jeffries reported, noting how Earle oversaw
indications the motorcade route was changed," he proposed. The secret service
performance that day is also suspicious as agents were waved off the motorcade,
Jeffries noted.
According to Jeffries, the conspirators wanted the country to know they did it.
"I believe there were high-level forces that were behind the assassination, so
they could have conducted a really good cover-up but they chose not to," he
said. Jeffries suggested a consortium of powerful people wanted JKF out of the
White House, including the CIA, oil companies, and those who feared he planned
to withdraw U.S. military forces from Vietnam. He also indicated JFK's stance on
Cuba had nothing to do with the assassination.

The second half of the program featured Open Lines. Ingrid from Tucson, Arizona,
recalled details from a JFK conspiracy video she saw on YouTube, which posits
several hit men were sent to kill JFK, the kill shot came from a drain in the
street, and Kennedy's face was surgically replaced. "It was definitely not
Oswald [who killed JFK]," Ingrid surmised.
Bruce in Southern California noted how the phrase "conspiracy theory" was
invented and made popular by the CIA in 1967. He suggested it is wielded as a
weapon to avoid investigation for fear of truth and stifle debate. Donna told
Richard she read a JFK book in which it is revealed Jack Ruby and Oswald
attended shooting lessons together. According to the book's author, Oswald was a
terrible shot and could not hit the side of a barn if he was leaning against it.
