In the first half, Annie Jacobsen, a journalist who writes about war, weapons,
US national security and government secrecy, shared her research on how the US
government worked with psychics and scientists with top-secret clearances. She
saw origins for this coming from WWII, and occult interests of the Nazis, and
the Soviets. By the 1960s, the Soviets began to merge technology with ideas
considered to be supernatural, and the CIA become more competitive in these
arenas, she cited. With the CIA announcing they had dropped their Remote Viewing
program in the 1990s, most assumed that US psychic research had ceased in the
government and military, but she found that was not the case with covert
programs re-emerging in the 21st century.
She located declassified documents on the British astrologer Louis de Wohl,
whose column "Stars Foretell" was popular in America during WWII, and learned he
was actually a British intelligence agent sent by MI5, and was using his columns
as propaganda to get the Americans to enter the war. She also talked about how
scientists had "conversion" events, moments in which they became convinced of
the veracity of ESP and other phenomena. Jacobsen recently interviewed famed
psychic Uri Geller at his homes in England and Israel, and found him to be a
"force to be reckoned with." She witnessed his telekinetic spoon bending
process, and while skeptics believe what he does is akin to a magic act, she
said he uses a technique that is different from magicians, and is not trying to
manipulate or deflect what the viewer sees.

about her reading approaches with clients, in which she combines preparation
with inspiration. She is a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, which she
suggested is a simple technique to become more grounded, and unify the mind.
