The Best Of Gene Watson - Capitol ST-11782 (1978)
The Best of GW contains songs from his 1st 4 Capitol albums: including
the hits: Love in the Hot Afternoon, (5), Because You Believed in Me
(24), Paper Rosie (22), & Beautiful Country (32); where the US
Billboard chart position is in (). Curiously it didn't contain the hits:
The Old Man & His Horn (11), I Don't Need a Thing at All (8), and Cowboys
Don't Get Lucky All the Time (14) but did have 3 uncharted songs
and 2 that didn't reach the top 40. I guess that's why they called it The
Best Of Gene Watson rather than Greatest Hits.
This started out as a vinyl rip but then I looked at my CD collection and
found that I had the CD so this is a CD rip.
I scanned the LP covers and used Photoshop to resize them to the correct
size for CD jewel cases. I modified the covers because on the LP all
the song titles were listed under Side 1 & 2 and obviously a CD doesn't
have 2 sides. Whenever possible I would use the LP back cover as the CD
back cover (with suitable modifications) and use it to create a jewel box
label too. I also created CD disc labels. The CD cover was nearly the same
as the LP cover except the background was red instead of blue. Since I am
a bit color blind I actually disliked the red so my covers are the blue of
the LP. Most people won't burn these tracks to a CD but if they should
choose to they can use the provided labels.
