Unfortunately, I'm confused, as usual.
I believe this was originally issued in 2011 as a 60-disc set, then
reissued in 2014 with 55 discs.
The website allows one to download the booklet for the 55-disc release.
Were the last 5 discs, removed from the reissue, repeats of works on
previous discs, given in classic performances? Or what?
I would assume the liner notes for the 55 discs would match the first 55
discs in the 60-set disc, but they don't quite match.
I was also wondering why, in the upload here, CD 31 (Piano Pieces) is
suddenly followed by the operas on CD 32, which should be the first disc of
Songs, with the operas not starting until CD 37, with The Oprichnik, not
Eugene Onegin.
I'm not even going to ask why the Violin Concerto has a second performance
on the disc of Piano Pieces devoted to Op. 40. Some things must remain a
mystery.
I guess I sound ungrateful here, but I'm not. I'm just confused.
