Unlike many Blues guitar rockers very redundant songs and sound, Corey
places great emphasis on quality songwriting and diverse song structure.
From catchy rhythms, to singable/memorable choruses, riffs and leads.
Whiles also keeping balance so he nor the guitar don't dominate, and allows
the band and keyboards in near equal parts. He blends many blues styles
together in his music, yet puts his own unique stamp on the sound. Like
subtle arpeggio hooks and rhythms reminiscent of the Knopfler's Straits days.
Yet song style closer to Tom Petty than SRV. Check tracks 3-5 and 10-16,
espec even #'d (thought samples barely give the song depth Here's other
electric blues I follow, and Corey falls in between the intense guitar mavens
(Trout, Kubek, Ellis, Strahan, Suhler. Koch, Clarke, Moss, Wolfe) and more
rock/traditional hybrid -electric blues (Bonamassa, Lister, Hiatt, DevAllman,
Guy, Mayer, Snowy White, Gatton, Burks, Thackery, Zito, Selby, Lyerly, G-
Mule, Shaw-Taylor, Sayers, Foley, et.al). I truly feel Corey takes aspects
from many of them. Checkout his most recent 2010 Dreaming Man is end to
end his best overall CR (check tracks like RideItOut, Good for the Soul, DMan,
TooGood, RondaVista, True Blue...every track real good to excellent).
