I am not a big fan of Vixen...
30 years ago, this all-girl band seemed like a manufactured pop group tailored for MTV and Top 40 radio.
Vixen were underwhelming as the opening act for the legendary KIX!
I would have preferred, Warrant, Winger, or LA Guns, over Vixen.
I believe Vixen performed during Spring Break 1989 in South Padre Island, Texas, near my hometown.
I recall seeing a local news report on their appearance. Could anyone verify this?
Slaughter and Great White were the attraction on the first night of 80's Weekend.
Personally, you couldn't pay me to attend the Friday night show.
Slaughter are New Kids On The Block with long hair and guitars, if my opinion!
Great White is nothing without Jack Russell...
When I attended the 2017 Tesla show at the Choctaw Grand Theater, I discovered a prime taping spot. I made sure to buy tickets in that row for KIX!
Being that there were very few people around me, there was very little crowd noise during the Vixen performance.
Originally, I had decided to set the REC level for this show at 8.0. In fact, I did capture Vixen at REC level 8.0.
However, there were several LOUD feedback bursts during the intermission between Vixen and KIX that would have sent my recorder over the egde if they occurred during KIX's set...
Wanting to play it safe while capturing KIX, I decided to set the REC level at 7.0 prior to the band taking the stage.
This was a wise move considering the strength of Steve Whiteman's voice, and booming bass tones.
My Vixen recording is hotter, but also features minor distortion.
