Goodbye (also called Goodbye Cream) is the 4th & final original studio album by the English rock band Cream. The album was released in Europe by Polydor Records & by Atco Records in USA, debuting in Billboard on February 15, 1969. A single, "Badge", was subsequently released from the album a month later. The album was released after Cream disbanded in November 1968.
Just before Cream's 3rd album, Wheels of Fire, was to be released, the group's manager Robert Stigwood announced that the group was going to disband after a farewell tour & a final concert at the Royal Albert Hall in November.
Before the start of their farewell tour in October 1968, Cream recorded 3 songs at IBC Studios in London with producer Felix Pappalardi & engineer Damon Lyon-Shaw. The songs "Badge" & "Doing That Scrapyard Thing" featured Eric Clapton using a Leslie speaker, while all 3 recordings featured keyboard instruments played by either Jack Bruce or Felix Pappalardi.
The group started their farewell tour on October 4, 1968 in Oakland, California & 15 days later on October 19 the group performed at The Forum in Los Angeles where the 3 live recording on Goodbye were recorded with Felix Pappalardi & engineers Adrian Barber & Bill Halverson.

It's hard, heavy rock, with Cream digging deep into their original "Politician" with the same intensity as they do on "Sitting on Top of the World," but it's the rampaging "I'm So Glad" that illustrates how far they've come; compare it to the original studio version on Fresh Cream & it's easy to see just how much further they're stretching their improvisation. What's most striking about GOODBYE is the charm & craftsmanship of their last studio tracks, indicating that Cream was far from played out creatively, & illustrating how strong their songwriting skills really were. The Beatles' influence is readily apparent on each studio track, the most famous being Clapton's "Badge," featuring George Harrison. Bruce's "Doin' The Scrapyard Thing," with its mixture of funk & the English music hall, points to the directions he would pursue on SONGS FOR A TAILOR & his other underrated solo albums, while Baker's use of odd meters on "What A Bringdown" anticipates "Do What You Like" on BLIND FAITH.
