While Agent added a sequential number directly to the name of duplicated
files, X-News added an underscore and then a sequential number. Who
knows what other newsreaders might be doing.
I have changed my mind - I have decided that I am going to go with the
original file names. I have a folder for each scanner under the model's
name. Where the duplicated names are of different models (as with the
greta & cindy scans), there is no problem. Where they are not (as in the
pedon), I am adding a sub-directory titled "DuplicateFileNames".
I also have a master folder for each scanner. In that case, a sub-
directory titled "DuplicateFileNames" will have all the duplicates.
(Yep, that means I often have two copies of a scan - straight from the
Department of Redundancy Department.)
Of the 2 files that have been renamed, the file names I use will be what
I am pretty sure were the originals:
hs-greta101 in place of hs-greta1011 (230261)
hs-greta102 in place of hs-greta1021 (145802)
The files I will be showing as duplicates for my Humbert folder:
hs-greta101 (230261) - Greta Thyssen
hs-greta102 (145802) - Greta Thyssen
hs-pedon103 (140899) - Roberta in soap suds
hs-cindy101 (186844) - Cindy Stewart
As for the other Pedon files, I am going as named in the csv adjusted for
the 103, where I will be taking the 172598 version (the 140899 version
being in with the dupes).
Finally, I have 7 DingDong scans that have been retouched by Humbert.
(Just thought I'd throw that in.)
FWIW
And if it makes any sense.
Thanks very much for your help.
