Just did a bit more poking around, and noticed that the Blu-Ray
transfer was done at 29.97 fps interlaced, which means that it wasn't
taken from the original (24fps) film master at all - probably an HD
video master that had already been produced for HDTV release. This
probably explains why the BD is less than six bucks on Amazon -
production costs were low since they didn't bother to remaster it. I
guess this is as good as this one's gonna get in terms of quality.
