Fred,
Outlook was never highly regarded by the Usenet community. Too many
problems and short comings.
One of the best and longest running Usenet readers remains Xnews, a
free download. And Forte Agent is still very reliable, again, for a
long time. Nice feature about both is they're not captive to any
newsgroup service.
Lots of choices for posting too.
