...I've done a few times in the past. The upload is a VERY quick and
dirty version just to show the technique.
I select all of the sand, then use the blur filter to average it, and
then add noise. I did the same thing on the sky. It doesn't always work
but when it does, it can be quite effective.
Regarding your initial version, a few details have gotten lost (the
string thing on the purple bathing suit shoulder blowing in the breeze,
the creases in the green towel, Katy's suit is half red and half
orange). I've looked at the other copies on eBay (one of which I guess
you used), the one at MCS and GCD and the tiny piece at HA (Mile High
doesn't even have a listing for it). The color of KO's trunks is all
over the place, from real blue to turquoise, and I can't decide which
looks more correct. Scanning can be so variable that sometimes I've
thought about getting one of those color cards like they use on space
missions or ink tests like on 4-color printing. When I select the white
and black points, it does come out more to the blue.
What do you think?
Or is this just obsessing over something that doesn't matter and no one
will care about?
