Giganews is the pre-eminent newsgroup server, but I do have a few
observations for you.
Skydiver & I just finished posting all of BD Magazine issues 2 & 3 to a
formerly empty group. The location will be announced here in a day or
so.
Giganews dropped the ball on the first 47 posts. Astraweb did not.
Giganews charges $5 extra for SSL. Astraweb does not.
Giganews has removed on-topic groups in response to complaints by the
IWF. Astraweb has not.
Giganews has over 500 days retention. Astraweb has over 400. C'mon,
all I'm interested in is yesterday's posts anyway.
I'm not putting down Giganews, or the inspector's recommendation. I'm
just making some observations of an alternative server.
