Hi John,
I use DVD Fab 8 to rip my DVD and Blue Rays. Load Ripped files into
Handbrake or whatever GUI you use (some times I use VidCoder
http://vidcoder.codeplex.com/ as it gives an accurate video bit rate)
Set to MKV High Profile.
PICTURE.
The cropping setting is the only thing that was not normal for me, my
usual setting is Auto.
Set cropping to custom and zero out all crop settings.
In Anamorphic select Loose and this gives you a 16x16 pixel,aspect
resolutions)
VIDEO FILTERS.
Default on the top two.
VIDEO.
H.264 (x264)
Quality set to TARGET Size 1493 mb (1.45 GB)
AUDIO.
Any choice
ADVANCED.
Have a play now and then but for the extra time involved in encoding I
hardly see any difference if at all in the final mkv.

Although I was lucky with Pitbull in as much it was fairly short 87
Min, and not to much frantic action allowing a video bit rate of 2196
kbps at full resolution and a descent Audio track as well.
