We return with the 26th installment of the DS Archives. This volume brings us a nice upgrade to the wonderful December 13th Tucson stop on the "Darkness" tour.
Captured two nights before the legendary Winterland broadcast, the performance and energy is every bit Winterland's equal.
This version has the same issues as the circulating version in the songs that are cut with the exception of "Quarter To Three" which is complete here and runs almost a full minute longer. However, the pitch issues, likely due to the taper's batteries dying, remain on the last two and half songs.
The real difference in this version is that it's a big material upgrade over the circulating version. The hiss and somewhat muddy sound is gone and though I would not consider it in the top echelon of Darkness audience captures quality wise, besides the pitch issues in the last two and a half songs it's now quite a nice listen and gives us a new perspective on this excellent performance.
