Thanks to twentyforty, and the Original Poster!
I found a project I couldn't do several years ago. I saved the files, and thought I'd take care of it sometime in the future. Either that, or perhaps someone else would post the movie.
I forgot about the project but found the files again today. I still can't get this done, but found someone else who posted the movie.
The movie is: Kiss Me Kate (1953). It's a Musical Comedy rated 7.1 at IMDb. The description can be found at: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045963.
The original post that I had been working on is still available on my server (and other servers, I'm sure). It was posted by Isis, a great poster, on Apr 24 2010, at alt.binaries.dvd. This is the only time I've had a problem with one of Isis' posts.
I could download the file. I could play it fine as a DVD. But when I tried converting it into a single file (avi, mpeg, mp4, etc), there were portions that didn't have any sound. I tried all sorts of things, such as converting each VOB part and combining those. No go.
Today I found the movie posted by twentyforty on Jul 23 2017 at alt.binaries.multimedia. The name of the posted file is: "Kiss.Me.Kate.1953.BluRay.480p.H264.mp4." It's only 585 MB, but looks a LOT better than what you'd expect from a 585 MB file. This is that file.
