Thanks for the follow-up. I'd certainly agree that I'd love to see the
entire original film, even if it did run over nine hours.
And if the four-hour restored version were really that, I'd certainly
watch it (and I will anyway). But that "restored" version doesn't have
the missing scenes, just still photos inserted in their place. In a movie
with no sound track, how can looking for long minutes (100 of them, in
this case) at still photos add anything to the enjoyment and understanding
of the film?
I was hoping to find the 2:20 released version so I could have both for
comparison. It seems strange that the restored version is relatively easy
to find but not the original release*.
*That said, I did just find what claims to be the 2:20 version at a site
that generally features obscure historical films:
